Decent GPA but...prereqs not fulfilled for major..

Hey everyone...I currently have a 3.67 GPA that will be higher after this semester...
I am a FINANCE major..(UC's dont have it...so I didn't apply for Spring)
Got into SDSU, SJSU, and a school in Canada...so far for Spring....

Anyways I am thinking about applying to UCI or UCLA for fall 2011 for business econ but I have not finished Calc 1 or Calc 2... Currently taking business calc with an A in the class...but its not Calc 1 or 2.

Am I still able to apply or should I not even bother....( I really dont want to take calc 1 and 2 as that means another year at a community college!)

I don’t think you have a shot at UCLA, the Business Econ GPA average is like 3.9 or something like that. So not having prereqs and having well below the gpa won’t be too good.

If your passion is Finance and the UCs do not offer it and if CSUs will accept Business Calculus to meet your math requirement for Finance, why not just go to SJSU or SBSU. Employers looking for Ffinance majors probably know that no UC offers it and the best places to recruit top Finance talent are the CSUs with the best finance programs.

nabielsmail thanks for the reality check. what do u think about UCI?

I love finance, but the CSU’s dont offer just a finance major…More like a business admin/finance major…
Any other opinions?

Also, for others with the same question about not having Pre-reqs for this major. UCLA will not consider you for Biz/Econ without completion of Pre-reqs.

You should have a decent chance at UCI, honestly I’d try and take atleast 1 semester of calculus even if it means during the Winter. Im gonna have to take Calc 1 over the winter, and Calc 2 over spring to meet my requirements. You gotta do what you gotta do! Good luck :]

anyone know as a fact if UCI looks at prereqs?
