So my overall score is a 2250 but my CR is a 680. Would this significantly lower my chances of getting in? I have heard that MIT mainly looks at math and reading. And I'm applying EA (if that makes a difference).

anyone wanna respond?

… it’s been less than 5 hours.

Well, mine was lower (610). As long as you have some compensating factor, you should be fine.

You can look here: [Admissions Statistics | MIT Admissions](Admissions statistics | MIT Admissions)

If you got in, you would be among the bottom 25% of accepted applicants. You have an 8% chance of admission, compared to the 15% you would have if you had a 750 or above.

Note that this is correlation, not necessarily causation. What is more likely is that people with higher critical reading scores tend to write better essays, and since the essays are such an important component of the application, they also tend to get in with higher frequency.

SAT scores are by far not the most important part of your application.

So should I retake it or just let it be?

ok i guess its too late to retake for EA oh well…

anyone else wanna chip in the discussion?

If they want to, they will.

Please stop needlessly bumping threads.

You can look at the zillions of other threads about SAT scores if you’re interested in further discussion. Sorry…
