Decided to go back after THREE Years

Im new to college confidential, but i have always read students discussion even without signing up. But I need some help.
Im 26 and when i was 18 i went straight to Santa Monica Community College. My Transcript is horrible. I decided to take a few years off, because i couldn’t focus, and i work 2 jobs just to pay rent. I am now 26 and i work for a investment company about making 40k a year. I save all my money so i don’t have to work and just focus on school as a full time. Now that i feel a lot more mature and ready to make a big change. Do you think its good idea to go back to school even though i have a bad transcript. I have 5w, 7F, and completed at least 72 units. I want to go to USC for engineering. I know its going to be hard, but if i go back and just focus on school for 3 years. Would i even have a chance.
.
My SMC GPA is ( 1.52)

thanks

Take a look at Santa Monica Community College’s academic renewal policy - be able to wipe those F’s from your gpa would be beneficial to you.

Good luck on your studies! You definitely have a chance, especially if you do well in the prerequisites for transferring.

I’ve taught lots of “second chance” students with stories similar to yours who have earned scholarships at my school for their excellent work, and good job offers once they graduated. Future employers and teachers will care about your current self, not the 18 yo who messed up. If you go back and do well, that will be what matters.

Thanks guys for the response. I decided I am going back to full time student in 2017 spring. I am taking classes to improve my GPA. But I’m ok if i transfer to USC at age 30. Thanks for everything.
