Deciding between CSULB and SDSU

My dream school is to go to UCSB, but if I do not get accepted I'm not interested in any other UC's in Cali that are close to my reach (trying to stay in state), so I thought it would be better to save my money and my parents money to go to a Cal State if I do not get into my dream UCSB, instead of going into a lower end UC like UCSC or UCR when I really don't want to go there.

I'm deciding between SDSU and CSULB and I'm unsure of a major but I want to go into something to do with mathematics and/or business (considering financing or accounting)

Anyways can someone list pros and cons of each of these cal states? I'm doing my own research, but I'd like to hear from you guys as well!

SAT: 1720 (570 reading 610 math 540 writing)
ACT: 26 (26 english, 28 math, 25 reading. 24 science)

Weighted GPA : 4.13
Unweighted GPA : 3.7

I think one of my essay is pretty unique and explains why I have weak EC's until this year.

But I'm in a couple of clubs (President of one and VP of another), Co-commissioner of elections committee in my ASB leadership program, and I was in journalism (the school newspaper)

None of the Cal States accept essays, and I don’t believe SDSU or CSULB even allow applicants to list their extra curriculars.

Anyways, I’d choose SDSU over CSULB particularly if your goal is to find a school similar to UCSB. I’ve been to both campuses and found the facilities to be far better at San Diego State than Long Beach. Additionally, the former is far less commuter than the latter meaning more people will stay on or near campus every night. This translates to a superior social scene, more activities, and not having to worry about forming study groups when the other person lives 40 mins away.

Are you also considering Cal Poly SLO and/or Chico State? Those seem to also share some similarities with UCSB although Chico State isn’t anywhere near the ocean.

Consider attending a CC then transfer (TAG) to your dream school starting junior year.
