I have narrowed down my college choices to Depaul, Marquette, and GWU.

Depaul and GWU would both be around the same financially while Marquette would be about 8,000 more expensive.

I live in Illinois, so Depaul and Marquette would be close to home, but Washington D.C. is a great city. I got into Elliott at GWU, went undecided at Depaul, and Business at Marquette.

So basically I am asking opinions on each of the three school... 1. academically 2. socially 3. opportunity

So please, opinions?

GWU
Depaul
Marquette

I have a friend that goes to DePaul and she absolutely loves it there! The people and staff she says are amazing! Also at DePaul if you do decide to do a Major since your Undecided they will have plenty of majors for you to choose from. :)

Well, in the east and perhaps nationally, George Washington University is more widely known for International Affairs and the social sciences.

Illinois (Chicagoland) is full of Marquette alumni. Milwaukee is an interesting town for college students, although the neighborhood nearest Marquette has seen better days.

DePaul’s location is also popular and Chicago is a great city for young people.

Depaul and GWU would both be around the same financially while Marquette would be about 8,000 more expensive.

Have your visited GWU?

Are your parents ok with paying the extra $8k? If not, then that school is off the table.

@mom2collegekids They would be willing to pay if I really wanted to go and no I haven’t visited GW yet.

Academically, I feel as if Marquette and GW are a notch above Depaul. Does everyone else feel the same way?

Also, at Marquette and Depaul I would have a better comparative advantage over my peers because they are less selective.

One of my major concerns with GW is its lack of a campus. I really want a strong collegiate experience and I feel as if GW is more of a professional, independent minded school. In other words… no school spirit… thoughts?

Yeah GWU really does lack school spirit but I feel like people make up for this by joining greek life which is pretty strong at GWU. If that’s something you are interested in, def look into it. Also, Washington DC is such an amazing city! I’m really not familiar with the other 2 schools but I am strongly considering GWU and I’ve visited numerous times and I really love the atmosphere.
BEST OF LUCK!!!

I love DePaul and GW both. You need to visit the two campuses. (They both have the “in the midst of a cool part of the city” thing going.) GW is more well known.
