 I'm from SAN JOSE (east $ide)
right now UCLA and UC Merced are both on the top of my list of schools. I need some help deciding between the two. UCLA has the academics and ladies (word to Cynthia) but UC Merced has the location and party scene. Any help would be appreciated

:- /

UCLA! haha mann, merced doesn't even COMPARE.

i'd pick ucla over all.

UCLA in the fastest half heartbeat known to man.

Uclaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Merced and UCLA are like comparing apples to oranges. You need to decide what is the best fit for you, what feel the most comfortable. Smaller vs very large school, academic major, location, your study habits, etc. UCLA (son goes there) is very competitive academically. If you go there, you need to make a very large school small like join the greek system or clubs. You'll also meet people in the dorms. There is no hand holding there, you're on your own although there is a great tutoring system there if you need it. By the way, you'll find parties at any school if that is what you are in to.

UCLA in a heartbeat.

I think you should pick Merced. Let someone who really wants to go to UCLA have the chance! :p

they're trying to make UCM a top tier UC... so expect big changes?

if u go to UCM and if it does become a top ranking UC then that could be favorable in the future when jobs ask wut college you went to

.> That would take many years before it gets that far, and it doesn't matter what it will be like in the future, only what's it's like now.

I personally would go for UCLA ... and location? I thought Merced was in the middle of nowhere. But if you have really really good scholarship, then go for it if you want (I heard they have incredible dorms.)

If you're considering choosing UC Merced over UCLA because of the party scene, then you definitely don't belong at UCLA.

^^^^ oh snap

Nicely put IGotIn! Lol it's not as though UCLA people don't party. It's like an hour away from UCSB, but vietsta, you got in for engineering at UCLA. How the heck are you going to party all that much oO;;

Don't think you'll be dissapointed in the party scene at la, choose la you won't regret it.

if you want party scene and location, and if you're potentially eligible for UCLA, then go to UCSB!

What do you mean by 'location'? I heard that Merced is basically in the middle of nowhere....

The more I think about it, the more I realize that this thread is absolutely pointless. Vietsta is clearly flaunting his UCLA admissions, and he does this for other forums too. Has he ever followed up on his original question? No. Has he ever even posted on this forum afterwards, expressing mild interest in UCM? No.

In the Davis forum, he even bumped an old thread with this girl that really wanted to go there, but got rejected. It was her "Chance me" thread from months ago, and Vietsta here had the idea to tell her she had no chance. Way to join the support group on CC. If a moderator could just close this thread, it would be helpful. This seriously does not pertain at all to UC Merced or its academics, it's just a clear attempt by certain individuals to gain satisfaction from admissions into a more prestigious school.

yeah its so obvious that this thread is just to put down those in merced.

stop flaunting seriously its gross

Hahahahahahahahahahahaha
Oh, dear god, go to UCLA. Let me put it this way, some people choose to go to community colleges over UC Merced
