hmmmm.... I'm not sure. What do you guys think? If I do choose Cal, I'll pretty much won't be doing much for like 6 months.

My major at UCLA will be Linguistics and English and for Cal it will be Linguistics. Do you guys know if there really that much of a difference between Cal's linguistics department that could sway me to wait until spring?

I don't have any advice and that's because I'm in the same boat. I want to go to both schools because I love them both more than any other school. I'll most likely go to UCLA (I seem unable to leave SoCal - no ivy leagues for me!), and it'll be a good choice, but I don't want to regret not going to Cal either.

Good luck glointhedark. I agree with worried student - you should choose the school you like better and the place you think you'll be happier at.

glo do you have any extra prereqs you need done, or want to pursue a double major at cal and need to do prereqs for that? because if you want to go to cal, just use the fall semester to do those prereqs at the cc there. in my classes there were a lot of cal spring admits taking care of business. so it's not like you'll be doing nothing.

not sure about cal's linguistic ... i'm sure it's great but ucla's linguistics is definitely heading cal's.
lots of ucla linguistics professors are MIT scholars (which i assume it has a really prestigious linguistic department if she mentions that way?)
good luck to u though.

Choose where you feel comfortable. The only exceptions I see to taking one school over another is if you are accepted to HAAS, Cal Engineering, or UCLA film.....after these the other majors between the schools are a wash.
