Deciding between University of South Carolina and Fairfield School of Nursing

My D is choosing between Fairfield and South Carolina Nursing Schools. She is from northeast so culture fit may be better at Fairfield - however Fairfield is Catholic/Jesuit and she is not. Understand that Fairfield is direct admit and South Carolina is not direct admit which is a plus for Fairfield. However netting out scholarships, Fairfield will be ~$100K more expensive over 4 years than South Carolina.

Welcome any feedback on relative strengths of either or both Fairfield and/or University of South Carolina School of Nursing. Thanks!!!

First, it depends on what is affordable to you. Then, has she visited Fairfield? Did she feel comfortable on campus? My S went to a different Jesuit college and non-Catholics felt very welcome and were happy there. My friend’s D went to Fairfield for nursing about 6 years ago and she was very happy with her choice. IMO having a direct admit is a big deal – I know too many people who went to large state schools and then could not get into the major they want. I would definitely research what percentage of students who apply for nursing get in, what stats are required etc. before opting for SC.

How are the NCLEX rates for both schools? Do they have simulation labs? Where do students do their clinical rotations? Direct admit programs are preferred. What is the percentage of students that get accepted into the nursing program after completing

Thanks for feedback - very helpful. Any other feedback/comments/suggestions very welcome!
