Deciding on where to visit

I'm a junior, trying to decide on colleges I should be plannnig visits in the near future. I plan to take the SAT's in March which should help me decide on alsit of colleges to see.
some information about me:
White male from a very, very rigorous private school in new england.
My GPA, including this years results is just about exactly a 2.9. However, there is a definate upswing in grades from my 9th and 10th grade years to my Junior grades thusfar.
Standardized testing:
SAT's: PSAT 205 SAT II's Math II 650 Latin 670
Ap's AP Statistics 4
Athletics:
I'm a three sport athlete, playing Soccer, Hockey and Baseball.
This year was my first year on Varsity soccer, meaning I will get 2 total Varsity letters from the sport.
I havebeen on Varsity Hockey since my Sophomore year, meaning I should get 3 varsity letters on that team.
I was JV baseball last spring, so I'm not sure how things should end up in that.

ExtraCurriculars:
I have been singing in both Chorus, and Glee Club since my 9th grade year.
I have been a school tour guide since I was in 8th grade.
I have been participating in Model UN since my 7th grade year, and am currently on the executive committee for that.

School Preferences:
Id prefer to go to a medium to large school. As far as geography goes, I would like either in the northeast, the mid south, or the west coast. I would also like there to be Division one sports at whatever school I end up going to in at least basketball, and preferably football as well. I would like a medium to large size school. I dont really want to be in the city, but I could handle just about anything else.

Schools I'm interested in visiting in the very near future:
Boston College, Wake Forest, UVA, William and Mary, Vanderbilt, Northwestern, UT Austin

Thanks for any and all of your help.

anybody at all have advice?

You should visit the colleges that you might want to apply to and attend, to make sure that you could be comfortable in those environments.

2.9 GPA?
OOS UT Austin is going to be tough. I live in Texas and even though they’ve passed some laws this year 81% of the class was top 10%.
Then again you said you didn’t want to be in the city so Austin and Nashville seem like outliers.

My only suggestions would be
UNC
UWashington
Florida or Miami(yea i know the location), maybe?

Just guessing, do you live in Virginia?

I’m surprised you have a low GPA when your PSAT score is so high.
Hm, the schools you’re visiting look good, but they’re reaches.
Visit some schools that would be safeties/matches too.

Schools I’m interested in visiting in the very near future:
Boston College, Wake Forest, UVA, William and Mary, Vanderbilt, Northwestern, UT Austin

You need some matches and safeties. All of these schools are reach schools.

What is your likely major? What is your home state?

Try to take the SAT before March. Also take the ACT. Some kids do better on one than the other and colleges will take whichever one is highest.

Is money no object? If so, then great. However, if you’ll be needing financial aid, you’ll need to know what your family’s EFC is and whether they can pay their EFC. If you don’t know what your family’s EFC is then use an online EFC calculator and find out. Also find out if your family can/will pay their EFC http://www.finaid.org/calculators/finaidestimate.phtml

i live in new england. my school is a day school, so im not boarding up herefro mfar away or anything which i think is what youre thinking

to be frank, my school suffers from pretty bad grade deflation, which is why the psat does not really match up with the gpa.

Wealth of info available on sites like the students review.com, princetonreview.com web sites. Yahoo Answers also is a great resource.

St Josephs
Fairfield
Siena
St Johns

Siena could be a good choice D 1 sports (basketball, but no football), medium sized, northeast, and in a suburban area outside of Albany.

I was also going to suggest St. Joe’s.

What majors are you interested in?

You have to have near-ivy league stats to get into UNC from out of state.

If it’s grade deflation…what is your RANK, that will tell the rest of the tale to a school when they’re reading that GPA.
