Does anyone know when Webster’s last MT auditions take place. Just trying to get a feel for when we’ll start getting acceptances/rejections.

I think March 20 and 21 for MT. Decisions are generally mailed out around April 1.

I had a student accepted last year and she found out on April 1.

I called this morning. They said the we wouldn't hear until the first or second week of April. If it weren't such a great program I would encourage my daughter to select from the choices she has just to end this stress. Not only is she waiting for college responses,
but summer programs also. (Of course, a lot of this stress is finding out how much all this is going to cost).

I believe they said they would decide on March 25 (I don't know why, but that date is what is stuck in my head from my audition last Friday.) Their goal is to mail the letters so they arrive on April 1.

My D was accepted to another school that wants her decision to attend by March 27. That is going to be a little hard when she will still want to wait to hear from Webster. I guess we can call them after the last audition and see if she is accepted before her March 27 deadline.

KidLuvsMT, no school should force you to commit to attend before the National Reply Date of May 1. Please ask in writing for an extension until May 1 at the accepted school as per your rights.

It does seem like forever to wait, but before you know it everything will quickly fall into place. My guys graduated almost a whole year ago...amazing to think we were awaiting with such high hopes 5 whole years ago!! wow-wee! ;)

It stinks that they wait so long, but it's awesome that they keep auditioning until the end of the theoretical winter. :)

I know people feel that the wait is long, but truthfully, many many colleges (not just MT programs) notify applicants (all of their applicants) on or about April 1. When my older daughter applied to selective colleges (not for MT), almost every single one of them notified about April 1. This was the norm.

Thanks soozievt for the advice. I checked their website and the university's academic acceptance date is May 1, 2009. On their MT website, they state they will try to let all students know about their acceptances before April 15, 2009. I'm sure they just want to start letting waitlisted students know as soon as possible. I will contact them today to request an extension until May 1 for my D's decision.

Thanks again!

At the Chicago auditions they indicated the intention was to wait till the end of all the auditions before finalizing a class and as knarfydna and Pohsmom said, they still have audition days toward the end of the month.

Originally, the auditor told my D she would hear toward the end of March, but according to that same auditor last week, notices will go out the first week of April.

Torture for us! But very fair to those still waiting for their shot to impress. :-)

Good luck to everyone!

Greetings,

It is the intent for Webster to have the notifications in the mail by April 1. As previously mentioned, this date is a "normal" date of notification to fit within the parameters of the May 1 respond time. I agree with another comment, if you believe you need a decision on a school, notify the schools involved. I believe if that school truly wants you, they should be willing to work with you.

In these times, good communication with admissions officers, financial aid officers and the departments of your choice will be a worthwhile effort. I would like to think that Webster will eager to work with you and our colleague institutions shoudl behave the same way. This needs to be an appropriate and careful choice and, as long as you communicate, we should be willing to work with you.

Thank you Plaidman! Appreciate you taking the time to clarify things. :-)

It's worth the wait!
Good-luck everyone and when you get in please feel free to ask as many questions as you need to. My D is a junior and it's good to see Sue is still checking in even though her boys graduated.

I emailed Lara Teeter, the head of the Musical Theatre department, and he said they will be having a meeting next week to decide the acceptances. The letters will then go out the first week of April. Good luck everyone!

D auditioned at Webster this past weekend. She had a wonderful audition experience there. D was told that the kids should hear an answer in 2 weeks. Also, this year they MIGHT make phone calls to accepted students. Otherwise letters will go out first week in April as evanzimm stated above.

How many students do they accept, male and female? I spoke to Lara today and he said letters will go out April 1. However, we've been told the same thing by other schools yet they made calls. Its actually kind of exciting for those who get the calls.

Good luck to all!

TXKatsmom- were you told by a reputable source that phone calls are definitely a possibility or was that just a rumor among students auditioning? When I auditioned they said they always just send out letters in order to not make things so complicated for the students. So I'm curious to see if this is something new that they are now deciding to do?

Well, sorry to report I just asked my D and it was NOT a reputable source. It was a rumor amongst the students!!! Sorry about that. D says the only thing that the program directors said was letters would go out in 2 weeks. I definitely misunderstood her. oops!

So glad you asked me...now people won"t be stalking the mailbox AND the caller ID!!!!
