Decision: Admit

A friend of mine who applied to UIUC got "Contact Admissions Office" after about a month, and a week later he received a letter of rejection.

Sorry to hear that man. =</p>

I sent in my application by mail about a week ago, so is there any way I can check my status online or is this just for those who applied online? I'm kinda nervous and would love to find out in advance... thanks.

On your paper application, did you fill in your e-mail address, if not, you will get a small envelope in the mail with your identification number and log in number. Don't fret when you see this envelope, a friend of mine almost didn't open it because he thought it was a rejection letter, haha. If you put your e-mail in , they will send you a confirmation letter with your info.

Thanks!
Yeah, I filled in my email... it's just strange that they didn't get my application yet cause I haven't heard from them.

It usually takes a little while for them to log your information into their system.

Jer0d

They say they still dont have my transcript yet ...

Checked the tracking # and it says they delivered it to the admissions office on Dec 9th.

Heck, I even have a copy of the guy's signature who signed off on it.

Do you mean, you actually talked to someone at the university and they said they don't have your transcript, or are you going to by what the online deal says?

If you're going by the online status, don't depend on it. My transcripted arrived at UIUC on Nov. 1 but they didnt enter it into their system until Nov. 15

ahh its been like seven weeks n no word...congrats on evry1 who got in already. does anyone know if rejections have been posted/sent out yet?

Monobala: Yeah, a friend of mine who applied at the end of October was rejected, in which he received his letter about a week ago. Hang in there, if you haven't been rejected/deferred yet, you should be in pretty good shape.

Jer0d

oh wow sorry for ur friend...do you by any chance know what his stats were like?

Even bad for LAS, his stats were below mid-50 ranges, so that's how it goes. Do you have aim, monabala86 ?

Jerod

Going by the online ...

Calling them tomorrow. I'm in the lower GPA range for their engineering program .. scary. Wanna get in so bad, even if its an 11 hour drive =/

How's your ACT/SAT Score, Timosy ?

Jerod

Well, heres a good a place as any I guess

3.3 GPA, 8 AP courses, 94-100 = A grading scale, +.5 for AP classes

1430 SAT (760v, 670m)

Ignore what it says next to SAT.. miscalculation which is obvious when you look at the score breakdown

The part that worries me most about your application is that since your school doesn't rank, UIUC will fit your GPA in a standardized curve for your GPA, and somehow guestimate your Class Rank. Your SAT is in the higher end for Engineering. It's going to be a tough call , but if your essays are good, I think you should be good to go. I would call them or write them letting them know that your school has a beast of a grading scale, though, if they don't already know.

Jerod

Should be in the transcript (the grading scale). Hopefully.

Yeah, kind of annoyed my school doesn't rank. Career center lady said it helped more than it hurt but .. no .. I think ranking would help more than it hurt >_<

In really competitive private schools and competitive schools in general, it is pretty beneficial.
