Guys, it’s alright. Everything will be okay, and when you received your email will definitely not impact your decision. There was a similar thread for the e-mails for EA, and I received my EA email a full two days after one of my friends (who happens to be a genius, and yes, he got in) but I ended up getting accepted.

Way too many U.S. kids seem to have gotten the e-mail for it to mean anything, admissions-wise. And I don’t see any internationals having it. So I wouldn’t worry.

Also, I’m pretty sure MIT has said that they continue making decisions almost until the deadline, so it’s not like they could send these messages based on acceptance even if they wanted to.

i guess im juz disappointed MIT would selectively send out such emails.
thus far it seems internationals have not received this email.
and… guys keep this thread going. when results come out we can see if there is a correlation between email and acceptance.

It doesn’t matter if you got the email – it really only matters that you can log into the decisions site. Go to decisions.mit.edu and see if your login works.

If the e-mail matters, then the vast majority of CC domestic applicants are getting in. If history’s any indicator, this is not going to happen. So, relax if you haven’t gotten an e-mail.

this happened during the EA decisions this year… I didn’t get an email and I got deferred. Some people got an email and got rejected others got accepted. I got an email this time but I highly doubt it has to do with selectivity. At most, but very unlikely, perhaps it just means they’ve made a decision on you already?
