happy jane, i applied to wellesley and bryn mawr as well as smith. i got a likely early evaluation from wellesley so i'm just waiting on finaid packages and smith and bryn mawr. bryn mawr was the only one i saw, but i REALLY liked it.

PF...have you not visited Smith?

Is it weird that I'm more afraid of the decision date than I am happy that's it coming? Not that I wouldn't be happy if I got in, of course!!

P.S. Good luck, ladies!!

When I opened my gmail account, I was so spooked by that e-mail!
I thought that something was missing in my application! Whew...

I'm counting down the days as we speak! :)
Good luck guys!

At this point three years ago, I'd mentally switched over from "days" to "hours" on my countdown. Not that I was obsessive or anything, you understand.

Actually, D having received a "Likely" letter from Wellesley had taken most of the pressure off. W is the only college that does that and I think it's a humane practice. I wish Smith would emulate it. Among other things, it builds a "bump" in attachment and loyalty to the college among its strongest applicants.

I totally agree with that. The likely letter is something that Smith should have, and I wrote that in my questionnaire as well.

Early evaluation is something all colleges should have. It helps plan your schedule in case you want to visit. I.E., if you get a "likely," you can safely arrange a visit, while if you get "unlikely," you assume NOT to vist :)

I don't think any colleges send out "unlikely" letters. :-)

I'm against the general principle of likely letters. It's the colleges' way of getting past the previously agreed-upon response date. Why don't they just send out early acceptances and later acceptances, since that's what is really is? Why pretend that they don't notify people of the decision until April 1?

Still, BJM8 has a point. Since other top colleges do this, then perhaps Smith should consider it.

MWFN, Wellesley does send out "unlikely" letters. It's a coarse triage that doesn't do much for the students receiving "possible" letters--they're like EA deferred students in that respect--but the "Likely" recipients know they have an acceptance weeks before the nominal date and the "Unlikely" recipients know they need to get on with their lives and start bonding with other choices. Even the "Possible" recipients should know that their odds are about only one in four...though there is often denial about that.

ahem..ahem...the time for the decisions is approaching near girls...i m sooooo.....nervous....ALL THE BEST EVERYONE!!!! :)

All the parents will be here to congratulate you! Good luck!

I haven't heard anything about my Smith decision, no emails, nothing. Should I be concerned?

no you shouldn't, because you'll find out through BannerWeb 6pm EST today, and GOOD LUCK! :)

so close, yet so far
school days are way to long....

Merdavis, aren't you a transfer applicant? This is for RD.

I just got into Bryn Mawr...they sent me an email, and I know other people got phone calls. I suppose their website also has results, but I haven't bothered to log on to check. It was strange, because I was only expecting Smith today. Do you suppose that Smith will send an email, or do you actually have to go to bannerweb?

You have to log into Bannerweb to get your decision (at least I didn't get an e-mail for ED)

Three hours and six minutes to go...

In the past, you had to go to Bannerweb. Last year, my daughter found out she was accepted to Bryn Mawr a few days before she learned of the Smith decision.

Congrats on Bryn Mawr! It's a fine school. My D would have gone there in a heartbeat . . . until she found out that she also got into Smith. :-)
