any1 know the earliest Michigan will start to release decisions Ik for Ea its guaranteed by dec 23rd but any1 know if you can get it any earlier

Yes, in theory it is possible to get a decision after two weeks. That’s happened to my friends before and those are usually the strong applicants.

Last year the earliest decisions were released on December 16 and the year before October 22. I would expect things to be more like last year than the year before.

First batch will be out by the end of October. You just gotta trust me on this one… I’ve been in close contact with admissions because I have a unique situation and they said they will work with me to push mine through. I applied as a transfer and submitted my common app in early august and all my transcripts and letters of recommendation back in July so they realize I’m serious about needing an answer quickly. Just call them and see when they expect to send the first batch out… Depending how many apps they initially got it should be in the first or second push.

sounds good I applied a couple of days ago and my school should send all the rest of my stuff this week I am not a transfer but do you still think its probable for me to hear by nov?

Transfer admission release dates are not the same as freshman admission.

Here’s the deal from someone who’s been through admissions last year–just don’t expect anything until mid December. Yeah, it kinda sucks, but don’t ***** about it. You’ll all hear eventually and pretty much everyone got an EA decision (accept or defer) before Christmas last year. You will too but don’t expect anything in October or November.

exiamm when did you apply?

I applied like now last year and nobody heard back, IS or OOS, until mid December.

would they get annoyed If I asked them when the first batch of decisions will be released?

I never actually really asked them questions online or whatever but from what I hear from people that did, they didn’t give useful information or it was unreliable.

Eziamm is correct, most people that you talk to will not give you a straight answer. I’ve called admissions and spoke to some pretty uhh… clueless people. Fortunately the admission director has been the same person for the last three or so years so I get somewhat of a straight answer. Who knows, maybe the info I got wasn’t even correct, but I’d like to think so… lol

There’s always people on this site that claim they have someone on the inside with intel that no one else has, and they’re always wrong. I imagine you’ll hear in December, OP.

^transfers operate on a completely different time table, so the poster’s intel can be accurate in that situation and mean nothing for the rest. As well, they only process about 3500 transfer applications, versus 39,000 incoming Freshman apps…
Best wishes to applicants, but be prepared to wait even longer because with the volume last year, many excellent students were deferred in December and didn’t hear a final answer until well into April. It’s a tough haul!

even though u guys said they don’t release until mid december do uk if they request any senior grades in the early action process?

The best way to get a straight and fairly reliable answer is to actually physically go to the admissions office in Ann Arbor and ask to speak with the admissions officer there. I’ve called and chatted online with the admissions office before but they never gave out straight answers or reliable information before. I basically asked the admissions officers there to chance me, tell me when to expect an answer and tell me pretty much how the admissions process works and they have been very blunt and honest with me. If you can get in contact with an actual admissions counselor, it will make your life much easier.

You have to send in your midyear report anyway. So yes, they look at Senior first semester grades even if you’ve already been accepted EA. I only think it should be bad if you got below a C- though. For people who will get a defer letter (like me probably) I’d expect it’ll weigh in on our decision. Moral of the story: keep up your grades first semester.

One of my friends who currently attends UMich (Freshman) said he knew someone in Northern Michigan who got his/her decision. I don’t know the person so I can’t certify whether the info is true, but if it is then decisions time has come.

Good luck to everyone of you waiting for decisions! I know I can’t wait for mine. I really hope to see all you in Ann Arbor next year. It’s a great city, and I’m sure you’ll love it! Go Blue!

are you sure its not winter transfers?

I just talked with someone in admissions last week on campus. They said that they’re rolling all decisions out on the week of December 23rd unlike previous years.
