signing off this thread

serghes and lauwai: Son has very similar stats to you and is also a white male. He was accepted to CMU but rejected at MIT. The way we are coping with the decisions is to think of it like a lottery- if you are qualified you get a ticket- after that it’s mostly luck! Hang in there!

@serghes Stop being bitter and get over yourself.

awkwardpenguin13 dont hate

how ironic. i could say the same to you

who am i hating besides the admissions process in geneeral??

use your Common App ID to login in

So has anyone figured out how to see their financial aid award yet?

My DS waitlisted in SCS with:
3.96 UW GPA - 2380 one sitting 800+800 ins SAT2’s; 3 AP5s (Calc BC, Comp Sci, Physics) and 1 AP4 (econ); Couple of Android Apps published; tons of extracurricular and leadership, including student govt; varsity sports; Robotics and lots of volunteering. All AP sr Year with college level math.

Don’t know what else could be different though… hoping some luck turns out to come true tomorrow (6 Ivies and Stanford)…

I am praying for my DS for March 28th… Surprisingly he is taking it (seemingly) good so far. I hope his hardwork and passion pays off…

6 Ivies and Stanford? Wow, i hope he gets good news, hes a very strong applicant, stronger than me…

What is “finanical eligibility letter”? Has anyone received it?

Thanks @serghes for kind words… But his first choice school was (is) CMU, as he likes their CS program:). He didn’t feel so during ED cycle, it kind of grew as months passed by…

@ParentNH: I know SCS is very tough to get in. Did your D apply to other programs? On that note, dose anyone have official or unofficial data on the admit rates at different schools of CMU? I’m interested to know the admit rates of SCS, Tepper and their theatre program (?).

Alden, u can calculate it using the data at [Carnegie Mellon Admission | Admission Statistics](http://admission.enrollment.cmu.edu/pages/undergraduate-admission-statistics). SCS has 8% acceptance rate!

^^great. Thanks. It’s a very competitive program indeed with also the highest GPA, class ranking and SAT’s.
