@Oracoj58 I just received the same thing. When you open it, make sure you turn the book over to it’s backside and the admission letter will be there. I almost missed it >.>

D just got the Priority Wait list letter, with the $800 non-refundable fee information. Does anyone know whether, if the financial aid package doesn’t work for you, that fee gets refunded? The timing looks weird to me–you need to commit (and send fee) by May 7 and will have only 72 hours to decide. There is no indication that you will receive a financial aid package by then or have time to negotiate it.

Also, there is a line that says: “Because resources are limited, waiting list decisions are not need blind.” Does this mean D is unlikely to get aid? Does it mean they will only pick students willing to pay full-boat? And does the fact that D is not first-choice mean she will not get any merit/talent scholarship money?

I tried calling Admissions to ask, but they couldn’t get me off phone fast enough. . .

It almost seems as if CMU is running a gambling business.

Which, in a nutshell, holds true for pretty much every college.

Yes some of this waitlist stuff is prety shady…

@annie43 it probably means that they will give a definite edge to the people who can pay the full tuition.

Also, the people who got accepted… does it say anything in your “where am I” account in the “Admission documents sent” section about a decision letter? cuz in mine it doesn’t say anything -_-

cneogy…not showing any admission or financial aid documents sent and S just got the Official Fat Envelope for SCS. Hang in there…less than 11 hours until decisions are online! Good luck!

annie…from what I understand, those on the waitlist will get a financial aid package at the same time as accepted students so you can decide whether or not to accept the spot.

Lol that doesn’t make me feel any better. Maybe only waitlisted ppl got the online notification of the financial aid

Mine doesn’t say anything @cneogy

Waitlisted ):

^did you get the financial aid thing in the “where am I” account?

i am so anxious…

The letter at the bottom? Yeah

My mail doesn’t come till 4 :-(

i must wait till midnight…

Interesting, rainingchexmix. Your note is making me think that the reason for the exorbitant $800 waitlist fee is to deter students for whom financial aid is a concern from accepting waitlist positions. Really disheartening for my D and others who have worked really hard throughout high school (on both academics and music–D is a music school candidate) to find the door closed to them at this last hurdle. It sounds as though the odds are definitely against us at this school.

Wait so basically if you get the financial aid thing then you’re waitlisted

still waiting my mail coming, anyone in Northern VA got letters yet?

So ppl have been saying that the acceptance package has something about “fat letter” on its cover so does that mean u kno whether accept or reject just by looking at the package???

Tevatron, i’m in Northern VA and got mine today.

@annie43 – You only need to pay the $800 enrollment deposit if you are accepted from the waitlist. No deposit is required to remain on the waitlist.
