Decision Date

Just finished my CSS and then found out, to my surprise, that the Decision Date for financial aid is May 2. I hope it is not the Decision Date for admission.

I haven't heard anything official, but I'd guess that the admissions decision date would be later, around the typical late-March time; the financial aid people probably just want time to figure out financial aid offers so that they can be sent with admissions decisions. If anybody knows when admissions decisions are supposed to be released, though, I'd like to know.

Clarifying and amplifying what staccatovibrato said:
CSS site says financial aid results from Tufts are available May 2.
Is that really correct?
Seems some other schools have about an April 1 deadline for FA information; then they want a decision on attendance by May 1. With Tufts not giving info. about FA until after May 1, that would mean people who have to weigh FA options can't really consider the school, because no FA information would be available until after that point.
So is May 2 correct for FA information? Any admissions or FA people around?

Provided your financial aid paperwork was in on time, you can expect to receive a breakdown of what your financial aid package is WITH YOUR ACCEPTANCE (provided you are accepted, of course).

Some families receive an award that clearly demonstrates that the financial aid information they submitted didn't accurately portray their estimated contribution. Our FinAid office is willing to work with you if that's the case and financial aid packages can be revisited and revised.

Also remember, financial aid packages are something that are given out to current Tufts students, not just prospective freshman, and the timetable for that is different than the timetable for the class of 2012, for instance. I'm not entirely sure about the dates of which you speak, but it's likely current student financial aid awards play a role in that date.

Thank you, DanAdmiss. That helps.
