Decision date

Does anyone know when decisions will start to come out? What dates? Is it online or through mail? Does it come with financial aid?

They start coming out on 3/7, online and by mail.

how do you know that

I actually thought it was March 27th.

By the power of Google!!!

[UMass Amherst: Undergraduate Admissions - 11. Notification](http://www.umass.edu/admissions/10_Step_Process/Notification/)

Yeah I do remember seeing that - and the letter that they sent out acknowledging your application, says you will hear from them in March or April. I think the 27th was for another college we’re waiting on ;)

NRE…lol!

I wondered it anyone would catch that. :)

My daughter just received her acceptance package from Umass today. It was mailed out March 1.

Whoa!! Wasn’t expecting to see a post like that so soon! Back to checking the mailbox!

congrats on your daughters acceptance. May I ask are you in state or out of state and what major?

Thanks

We are from Massachusetts and she is a music education major. She auditioned for and was accepted by the music dept in December. So they have had her applicaiton since the beginning of that month.

Thanks for that info, I am applying to the engineering department. Congrats again.

Did the application status change online first?

Received acceptance packet today.

Regular decision letters should be arriving any day now. Best of luck to all.

Please post only your stats on this thread for easy reference to others:

Accepted/Rejected/any scholarship & amt

In-state/Out-of-state

Program applied to

Unweighted GPA

SAT (CR + MATH) / ACT

Relevant ECs

Do they only look at M and CR?

From what I can figure out, the writing is there mostly to see if your essay is in line with those numbers. So if you wrote an amazing essay and got a 410 it wouldn’t jive.
But they are mostly looking at the Math and Critical Writing. Some schools say they don’t look at the writing at all.

I thought so because even on the UMass website they say the average SAT is a 1140 instead of putting it out of 2400.

UMass isn’t to concerned with writing right now.

This explains it better, and the GPA minimum is 3.0.

Scores on the new writing section of the SAT will not affect the sliding scale for freshman
applicants to the Massachusetts state colleges and to the University of Massachusetts at
this time. The sliding scale, used in making admissions decisions for students with high
school grade point averages falling below the required minimum, will continue to be
based upon the combined critical reading (verbal) and math sections of the SAT.
GPA ----- SAT
2.51-2.99 950 (20 ACT)
