so now we know its mailed out at random lol lets get patient for another 20 days or so (for first year freshman lol)

Since it’s seemingly random, I’m curious how they actually review the applications… I know the admissions office doesn’t actually download the application until a couple weeks after you submit it (submitted my common app 1/13, status says admissions downloaded it 2/9), but still, it can’t be random, can it?

i have no idea man, i submitted my pretty early, earlier than the deadline of EA, like around the end of october and still waiting for my decisions lol

and it seems pretty weird, cause a group of people from my school got the letter the first week of March, pretty sure they all received on the same day and me and a lot of my friends did not get it, and its not like the group of people who got the letter has the same last name, so i think they send out the mail like this many people from a school and the others’ will be sent out maybe at another time

^ This is what happed at S’s school - a group of people heard first week, no one else has heard since then…

There are ENDLESS possibilities, could be by school, application date, in-state or vice versa, strength of applicant, major, geographical area, anything.

I’m talking out my ass now, not much else to do now but wait…

Cousin got his on Thurs…half my school has heard, while the other half hasnt…some were rejections…i honestly cant wait to find out, i just hope i dont have to wait until April 15.

My application status now says “under review”, expecting a decision soon, very nervous.

Mine’s been under review forever, according to most students, the site is very unreliable.

****, well apparently if you’re accepted the site takes a while to change, generally after the letter lands in the mailbox. But this is starting to get a little ridiculous, how long does it say “under review” for? I assumed that meant that admissions people are actually reviewing it, they can’t spend too long on a single application, they probably only spend a day on any given application right?

thats what i thought too but mine has been “under review” for like what, about three months, since the day they told me they got my transcripts, around the first week of january, till now

Ok, mine had just said “complete application” until today, so who knows when the decision will come, I think I’ll shoot the Admissions office an e-mail and ask what’s up.

Good luck guys. Ridiculous how UMass Amherst mails decisions up until the MIDDLE OF APRIL! Jeezus!

I got my denail letter today. :(

Were you waitlisted?

Nope, just out right rejected.

just wondering, if you are waitlisted (first year applicant), when will you hear the deferred decision?

Well the waitlist basically means they want to keep you in case a bunch of people don’t matriculate, but usually they use the waitlisted people very sparingly.

If waitlisted, you will hear around the middle of June whether they have gone to the waitlist.

if you are waitlisted, you have to option to remain on the waitlist and you get automatic admission for spring semester.

also, my application went from Under review, to complete application, to under review again.

cant wait to hear…its my top choice.

i just received my acceptance letter!
