Decision Davidson

Hey! Is anyone going to this? And can any Davidson people enlighten us prospies on what this weekend is like? It seems like it would be fun but we won't get to meet many other students because we're with our parents the whole time. Thank you!

It is fun, and you do get a chance to meet other prospective students because there are various group sessions discussing different aspects of Davidson life. My recollection is that a schedule for Decision Davidson is posted on the admissions site--cannot remember if it the information is accessible to all or just to accepted students. As I recall parents and kids aren't together the whole time. Also, there is a very pleasant picnic lunch when you sit wherever you find a seat, which is inevitably at a large table with other students and their families. You also get to meet current Davidson students. It is an excellent program and really does enlighten you about the school.

I went to it last year (wearing the t-shirt right now, lol). You check in and they give you a folder with a schedule of the events. The president addresses all the admitted students in the auditorium, and then you break up to go to different things. They offer regular tours and tours of the science facilities. They also offer a few departmental info sessions; I went to an interesting one on biology (it was done by a genomics professor). There were also people at tables in the College Union that answered questions about different programs, like interdisciplinary majors. Lunch was very nice and out on the main quad; the warm weather made it great. It's very fun, a great way to learn about Davidson, and a good way to meet potential classmates.

Hey everyone interested in non Belk scholarships at Decision Davidson / Scholars Weekend please come by the Community Service office I think its something like 2-5 on Friday or perhaps Monday if you are interested in the Bonner Scholarship, and let me tell you, you should be, its really cool and there is a much better chance of getting it than other scholarships. Email / Reply to this if you want more exact info.
