D13 says she got email that they've made their decision and she will be able to see online at 6pm on Feb 8th. Anyone else get that and why take a month!?!?!?

In actuality, the application process is still in progress and yes, freshman admissions will be announced on February 8th. Rest assured, the email received from your daughter was sent out to all freshman applicants who submitted their application by the November 1st deadline. And why does it take a month, UFL has actually been processing over 30,000 applications for the past three months. Trust me, it takes a lot of time….

It’s a general email sent to all applicants. It’s a only a month. A month that will fly by before you know it.

Thanks and yes, she applied EA by 11/1. Just if they already have decision say what it is, so we can decide whether and when to travel to visit.

It’s just a date. Every college has a decision date. Perhaps deciding whether and when to visit could be pushed back a month?

We got that too like a week after applying and threw our $25 at them.

Reality is, no one knows why it takes a month. Trust me. What ilovethe47 said is speculation/assumption. All we know is admissions made their acceptance/rejection decisions and that it will be released in a month. Who knows what they will be doing in the mean time; it could be scholarship disbursement or even prepping letters/emails of the decisions. It could even be placing students in the terms; uf admits as one enrolling class, so once they admit everyone, then they start placing students in fall, then in summer, IA, summer deferments, etc. etc. It might even be double checking or something. No one knows, and anyone who tries to give you a reason, claiming it to be factual, well…they aren’t credible.

Sabertooth is right. I kinda speculate that, since UF has a large amount of applicants, it may have something to do with that.
Nonetheless, theres a reason for the date to be February 8th. (It always tends to be within a week of that day anyways).

Kinda just have to accept it, but it’ll come. Best of luck in admissions.

Could anyone please post the email they received? I just realized that all mail from UF Admissions was going straight in the junk folder and I missed this email. I really want to see what it said exactly.

Nothing important.

Yep, I got the same email. I’ve heard back from every other state school I’ve applied to, but not UF. I’m not super excited about it taking so long, but I understand why

There is always a hard notification date for UF. FSU apparently posted acceptances earlier than promised this year, but I doubt UF will. My daughter got that same e-mail, but we didn’t take it to mean that decisions had all been made or, really, to be of any particular importance other than to say, “Hello, yes, we have your application. Make sure we’re not missing anything, and in case you missed it when we told you before, you won’t know until February. Don’t call us; We’ll call you.”

And yeah, it stinks, but the fact is that other than people at the top of their class (who know they’ll get in to UF but may want to go someplace better) or the bottom of their class (who know they’re never getting into UF), most people in Florida are waiting to hear what UF has to say before they decide between the other colleges that have, likely, already accepted them (My DD has 7 acceptances and is waiting to hear from UF and the equally late notifier, Clemson). So they can do whatever they want.

Really shouldn’t worry, the time flies by. I remember my time. Funny thing is there was a field trip to adventure island for Senors that same day.

The only thing that can be interpreted from the memo sent by the University of Florida admissions department Is that everybody’s application is still pending and not to put all your eggs in one basket with the University of Florida. Make sure you keep up with all your other applications just in case.

My son received a letter asking him for his parents’ IRS 1040… I don’t remember getting that for my other son… has anyone received the same letter?

Madodem1368 - it depends on how your son filled out the residency page. If he said he was independent then he has to prove it and one of the things he needs to do to make that happen is provide a copy of the parents tax returns showing that you aren’t claiming him for tax purposes.

Yes, and I did… but I thought it was unusual since noone else I know and who has applied to UF has been asked for the form.
Thanks for your reply though…
