There is always a hard notification date for UF. FSU apparently posted acceptances earlier than promised this year, but I doubt UF will. My daughter got that same e-mail, but we didn’t take it to mean that decisions had all been made or, really, to be of any particular importance other than to say, “Hello, yes, we have your application. Make sure we’re not missing anything, and in case you missed it when we told you before, you won’t know until February. Don’t call us; We’ll call you.”

And yeah, it stinks, but the fact is that other than people at the top of their class (who know they’ll get in to UF but may want to go someplace better) or the bottom of their class (who know they’re never getting into UF), most people in Florida are waiting to hear what UF has to say before they decide between the other colleges that have, likely, already accepted them (My DD has 7 acceptances and is waiting to hear from UF and the equally late notifier, Clemson). So they can do whatever they want.
