A decision was made on Tuesday, April 10, 2007. An official letter was mailed to you. Admission decisions are not provided over the telephone. Decision letters are mailed to applicants and typically take 7-10 business days to receive.

This was online when I checked my application status today. Does this mean that I got rejected or accepted. I know a lot of schools put messages like this if your rejected but if your accepted they will just say congratulations you got in to so-and-so school. Can someone tell me if this is a signal of being rejected or accepted, Its driving me crazy that I don't know.

I believe this is the notice everyone gets. My daughter had the same notice and she was accepted.

I thought it would stay "No decion until next week when final notices should be received so I am surprised to see this today.

Yeah, that's what it said for me as well. I was accepted. I got my package about 2 days later and I'm out of state. Also, they kind of leave the guess work out of it for you. You get a package that states "Congratulations! You're a Spartan!" on the front if you get accepted.

JUST GOT ACCEPTED. I was SO scared that I wasn't going to get accepted due to me telling EVERYONE that I was going there. Really Happy Right Now. :D

Congrats to you all and I hope you attend MSU. It truly is a wonderful school. :)

If you need any professor recommendations, I'll try to steer you towards the right ones. :-P

I WILL be attending. Just have to send in my deposit. Then I'll officially be a Spartan. :)

Double congrats, Kenshinsan... btw, I'm sorry MSU's still sending those "congratulations, you're a Spartan" letters. It seemed rather boorish/amateurish; beneath a school of Michigan State's caliber, but maybe that's just me...

My S received letter today, wait list for Fall 2007, but assurred Spring 2008 spot. Not a spartan today, but at least its in the cards and the anxiety is over for this step anyway. Anyone else Spring 2008?

As a current MSU student, congrats to all those who got accepted and to all those who are waitlisted: hang in there!

And yes, the "congratulations, you're a spartan!" ruins the anticipation of what the letter says, doesn't it?

Yeah mystery there...I hope rejections aren't so obvious. Haha.

^One of the downsides of MSU is, despite it's high academic quality, there are some elements that are simply too sports gaga there; they place far too much emphasis on sports as part of MSU's overall success... Hey, I've been nutso about Spartan sports since I was a student (Tom Izzo practically walks on water for me), but when I was looking at schools, the quality of sports programs was THE LAST thing I considered... Somehow, I don't think my Ivy League buddies are jealous of me because of their schools' collective crappy sports programs...

... The Spartans are the school's sports nickname and really should not be presented to new admittees in such a manner; to me, it makes MSU look bad and I'm so disappointed they're still doing it... [end rant, here].

Hey, the new frosh will get that keychain of the lyrics to the fight song and MSU shadows. :-P Did you get one of those Quincy?

I agree with most of your rant, but what other student gets to run into Sparty (the mascot) in the Student Union, or witnesses Sparty crash a psych lecture in Wells Hall (to the surprise of the professor and about 600 students)?

No, we didn't quite get that.

I see. I thought it's been a tradition that the freshman at AOP get the keychain with the fightsong on it. :)

^Well there you go; Mom and I's lateness to AOP probably spoiled our Spartan prize, haha.

I hate to say it but I was pretty giddy about getting the keychain and singing the fight song. :-P

What does scUM have to offer?

I hate to hijack the thread, but I couldn't resist posting this.

scUM, ooo, ouch. Alexandre won't like that...

Speaking of AOP...

All that that really is, is the selection of classes for the fall, correct?

Quincy-
Hopefully he won't come on this part of the forum... :P I think he'll brush off the insult since he understands my situation(Tried getting into UofM, but got waitlisted last year).

Memodot-
You spend a night in Case Hall to get a feel of what it is like to live in a dorm and eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the caf. You pick classes, go on a tour of the campus (including your hall) and attend various orientations about campus safety (and not rioting..), drug and alcohol use, and what college life is like. It's a lot of fun and you can meet new people, but make sure you bring a fan if you plan on going in the middle of summer. It's really hot in the dorm and there is no air conditioning.

For more info about AOP, check out www.orientation.msu.edu

Welcome Week though (first week before school starts) is a lot of fun. =)
