Decision out

Jesus, a 1500 SAT and you got waitlisted? Wow. If I had scores that high I'd be applying to Penn and such, screw Brandeis! haha jk

To those posters who are concerned with a mid-year admit. Middlebury also has what they call February freshmen("febbies"). It can allow your S or D to do something really great for a few weeks or months. There are lots of programs out there and perhaps Brandeis has some to offer as well. The "febbies" also get the best housing because they take the place of students who are away for Jr. year. Hope this helps.

Just got the blue package yesterday. Pleasantly surprised with the presedential scholarship (20k/year). I'm still waiting on a number of schools, but this put brandeis well in the running.

Stats:
-3.70 (weighted, and that includes a C+ and at least a B- or two), 1530 (770v,760m), 690/700/730
-8 ap's total, plenty of honors stuff
-great essay/ 4 recs (1 amazing, 2 excellent, 1 decent)
-way too many ec's, but the highlights are: intel semifinalist, very active in usy (international jewish youth group), and the columbia shp
-had an interview that was unusual, but went well overall (he pretty much told me that my schools stinks, and he doesn't want to send his kids there)

geez, what is taking so long? i still haven't gotten anything.

ouch. Maybe they lost your app? Hope not, that's why I called a couple months after I sent it. I heard the app. numbers were WAY up this year. Or maybe the postal service is just slow. I think most of the New England kids heard back last week.

since when did brandeis get so selective?

Since they got many more qualified applicants this year than in past years, which is true of pretty much all private universities.

I got in.

1550 (800m/750v)
770w/750chem/720m1c
Decent ECs, interview wasn't anything special.

They gave me the dean's award (10k/yr), but no need based aid whatsoever, so I guess this college is out.

I'm also Asian, maybe that was it.

Yeah I got Mid-Yeared. I'm very much not psyched about it since it pretty much makes Brandeis out of the question as far as my parents are concerned. I also got basically no finacial aid or anthing.
