"Decision: Please Contact Admission Office" ?

A couple weeks ago I applied to Missouri State University. I went to go check up on my submitted application and it says, “Application Status: Decision Made” and directly under it it says “Decision: Please Contact Admission Office”.

I’m not sure whether if I should call them or not, because I’ve heard that if you call you’ll get an automatic rejection letter.

If it helps, under my transcript/ACT/application status it says for my transcript “Item received and processed but final needed”. My dad thinks that it possibly had to do with my completed transcript (I’m currently a senior who is about to finish the first semester), but I’m not exactly sure. Does this have to do with possibly calling the admission office? Or is this completely unrelated? If it is unrelated, could you explain it to me what they want?

Thanks!

Oh good grief. See that cell phone you text all your friends with? It has a phone feature. Use it.

They told you what they wanted - they want you to contact them. So do it.

Your logic is very poor.

“I’ve heard that if you call you’ll get an automatic rejection letter.”

You think if you don’t call them, they’ll somehow NOT reject you if they’ve already done so?

Simple answer. Call admissions.

Really?! You think it’s some kind of trap?!..Please…I’m not even sure why they would have you call if you were rejected, they would probably just put that decision on there. My guess, is that you have a provisional acceptance or you are missing some information and they want to tell you directly.

But, I agree with the others…just call. You have two choices, call and find out what they need (and what the decision is), or don’t call. But if you don’t call what good does that do you?

You have to make the call to find out. Likely it is not the transcript issue because what you are seeing is simply something that will appear in your file when you submit your existing transcript because it is not the “final” transcript until after you graduate from high school.

I do not know what Missori State’s practices are. For a number of colleges, getting that notice would indicate you have been rejected because they don’t give out rejections on line but require applicant’s to call after the decison is made. At others it could mean you have been accepted but not for the major you requested. And it could mean just that they have some question about information in your file such as they are making you call because you have a name that is close to or very similar to someone else who has applied and they are just doing secondary confirmation that they have have matched the right decision with the right applicant.
