class of '11 if any of you applied early action when did you get a decision back from them?

You're likely asking class of '12 which is the current freshman class. I'm a sophomore, but since I doubt it's changed much, I applied EA and got my letter a little before christmas.

D is a freshman in the class of 2012 and got her decision on Dec 18

online or recieved by mail

Online. The letter came at least a week after.

My son is waiting to hear from NEU-his top choice! Did the e-mail tell you whether you were accepted or not or did it just tell you to check your e-mail?

they email it? or just post it online?

The post it on your Application Status check. At some point the information in the application status check gets "locked" and you can no longer make changes. It was shortly after that that the decisions were posted in the status check. It will be an actual copy of your acceptance letter posted there.

RatedPG, thanks for the info; he checks the application status check frequently but we weren't sure if an e-mail goes out first that directs you to check online ? It is very helpful to have somone who has been through this before to help us understand....

I think there may have been an email stating to check the application status. However, at that point we were already checking very frequently because there was such a buzz on CC regarding the "greyed out" boxes on everyone's status page. Based on the prior year, everyone knew this meant the decisions would be posted soon.

So when someone sees their status "greyed out" or locked, post it so we can all start getting nervous (my second D applied EA this year).

Thanks RatedPG!! Do you already have 1 child at NEU? It is my son's first choice; we hope it comes in much earlier than the 31st. The Dean of Admissions has a blog on the NEU website and she said they received 11,000 EA applications this year which is up by 35%. Yikes! That just means more competition for the rest of us..

when is information about merit aid given for students who applied early?

merit aid including the partial and full scholarships.

i notice that my application status is in grey and unable to be altered so what does this mean how soon is a decision coming and since I didn't get a letter about financial aid or whatever the letter was about, does that mean I'm def. not in??

collegemom, yes my D is a freshman. I looked back at last year's EA thread. It loooks like sometime around the Dec. 10th people began to notice that their application status changed, first it gets greyed or locked out where you can make no changes. Then the list of documents actually goes away and you get a message saying something like 'there are no more required documents'. now according to last year's posts, at that point some people actually tried logging into MyNEU and were successful which meant they were in.

Keshav, last year merit aid was included in the acceptance letter for EA which you will first see on line. They do not, however, announce the half and full tuition scholarships until after the RD acceptances. Also, there are additional scholarships that can be awarded later on as well. For instance my daughter found out she received the Dean's scholarship with her acceptance letter, but several months later (April I think) was notified she received an additional engineering scholarship.

RatedPG, thank you for all of this info; I noticed that my son's majors are greyed out so we are 1 step closer to finding out! So your dtr is in Engineering? That is what my son appled for; he can't wait to hear!! We have visited the college 4 times; I told him he should get accepted just for being such a frequent visitor! We're hoping for good merit aid; have our fingers crossed for your second dtr as well; good luck!

COllegemom and other applicants:

do you still have your personal information on the website where you can edit your address and name?

As of this afternoon, yes the personal info is still there and is not greyed out so it can be changed! The waiting is driving us crazy......

same here! I really can't wait any longer. For the most part, all my friends have received their decisions from most schools.

sweetkandypie, my son has heard from 2 out of 6, but Northeastern is the one he is really waiting for....best of luck to you...we'll all get through this!
