Decision release date?

Has anyone heard any dates being thrown around? I can't take the waiting anymore!

Fordham sends their decisions on a rolling basis. Some kids have already gotten them, while others still have to wait a week or two.

Wrong. Fordham is NOT a rolling admissions school. They have some early notice likely letter students as all schools do, but the notices go out (admit, defer, reject) in batches, the last week of March. This has been the case for decades. And is the case for schools using the classic RD pool and drop dead acceptance date of May 1 (when you must notify the school you are coming or they go to the wait list and give your spot away).

You will know sometime between the 24th and 31st of March. I dont know how the batches are set up, but its really a mailing/post office thing. They will make certain EVERYONE has an answer before April 1. So you have a month to decide where you are going, etc.

Good luck to everyone.

LOL, I was gonna say! I applied in October!
Thank you sovereigndebt. I applied to so many schools and I’m so indecisive, I’m just afraid one month won’t be enough for me to decide and I’ll end up choosing somewhere I don’t really have my heart set on. But thanks again!

Sorry! I didn’t mean to say rolling! sovereigndebt is right.

No harm no foul. Just a clarification so people didnt freak out they hadnt heard yet.

Termah: I understand the fears and anxieties and consternation. Its a process…for millions of kids. And yes, while the anticipation is exciting, ultimately the month of April is as tough as it can get. Been there.

We got down to 3 schools…and finally 2 schools and it came down to the last day, and almost the last hour. Very difficult because friends were involved. We (my kid) chose Fordham. The admitted student weekend orientation in April sort of sealed it…and Fr. McShane’s personal entreaty and wonderful closing speech in the venerable Rose Hill Gym did it. But it was NOT easy pulling the trigger.

So just breathe. Get the list down to 2 or 3 schools. Close the book on the others. Tough? Yes. But it must be done. Then try to be rational and logical about your final choice, practical…finances etc…and also your gut feeling. Where will you be the happiest and have the best opportunity for success (high grades and socially content). Its not one answer for all…even Fordham is not perfect! LOL.

For some Fordham is a dream school. For others, its not their best choice. Its subjective. Of course, my role as a parent and Fordham supporter is to be encouraging and help answer questions (though my opinion is just one opinion…)

We are not New Yorkers. We had the same “Bronx fears.” But were very pleasantly surprised. My kid is now long gone from Fordham…and has a graduate degree now. But still has pangs of missing those Bronx years…and how much Fordham grew on her…its precise gritty location, its gorgeous campus, its wonderful people…and the community she grew to love and respect. So for those people who are concerned about its location, we say don’t fear it; embrace it! We had as many tears at graduation as we did dropping her off freshman year…tears of joy and tears of knowing it was over and time to move along the journey of life.

Good luck to all.

So when will it be released? When was it last year? Besides the range of 24th to 31st, is there a specific date?

I got admitted on the 6th of March, best of luck to you!

There is not one date, but many. The reason is they get over 35,000 applications and all applications must get a response: admit, wait-list, deny. That includes the holdover deferrals from EA. They send them out in batches. How they organize the batches I dont know. Could be alphabetical for all I know. Could be by decision result. Could be by zip code. Internationals normally do go first since it takes longer to arrive by snail mail.

This year Easter is very early. Its Holy Week next week, the last week in March…the normal mailing week. That tells me batches will start being mailed this week. When that is I don’t know.

Its frustrating and anxiety time for those in waiting, but please be patient. Within a week you will likely know your status.

Good luck.

My daughter was admitted EA and still haven’t received her award letter! I called and they have everything.

This wait is killing me! And IMO Fordham has NOT done a good job of keeping in touch with students. All of my other schools have sent me emails, things in the mail, blogged, but Fordham has done NOTHING to keep their school in the front of their applicants’ minds.

LOL. Relax Termah. Not to make light of your anxiety. But this happens every year. many schools say nothing…mostly out of the sheer volume of applications. Its not personal at all. Some schools do a better job of being twitter bugs etc. Fordham is sorta old school in that regard. I know you want to know. You are not alone. It will all be over by next week. And then the real work comes to bear as you must decide between offers.

Just breathe. Take a long walk. Get some exercise. Read a novel. Watch movies. Something to take your mind off the wait. Good things happen for those who wait.

Best of luck.

I just received an email from Fordham that my D has been accepted - YAHOO!!! Anyone else get an email?

@waitinggame2 congrats!

Thanks @GCmom415!

I havent gotten an email. Did anything show up on the portal?

Nothing is showing on their portal. And I am surprised that I received the email and not my D. She hasn’t received anything.

Yea that is very bizarre. What did the email say exactly?

I am delighted that Kristen has been admitted to Fordham University and the Class of 2017. I’m sure Kristen has many great college options, and you as a parent hold a special role in helping to guide Kristen through the college search process. As director of admission and a Fordham alumna, I have a distinct perspective on the benefits of a Fordham education, and I’d like to share with you just a few of these exceptional benefits:

And then it went on to list a bunch of the benefits.

We received the same email and my daughter was admitted EA.
