but anyway...i applied to science and management? how does that really work? if science doesn't want me, they still consider me for management?

o i really hope ur right. what's AFAIK? does that mean i get evaluated for both? um i was going to apply to queen's but senioritis has kicked in bad and i just got lazy. especially when i went to that compass site and there were so many instructions. i applied to pton, penn state, yale and the whole lot. i hate this waiting game. i've been waiting for mcgill since like november... i'm sure u'll get ur release date soon. my minerva is really weird. i went to a different school for 9th grade and i didn't send the transcript. but somehow minerva said i did. so i called my old high school and they're like...uh....we definitely didn't

AFAIK means "as far as I know". Now that I think about it, I'm not sure about McGill. I know Queen's does evaluate all your choices independently - there is no "first choice". McGill OTOH (on the other hand ;-) ) has a "first program choice" so maybe they do evaluate in order - I don't know for sure. Maybe harpgirl27 can answer this (or call/email admissions if you need to know for certain: admissions at mcgill.ca, 514-398-3910).

I'm pretty sure they evaluate the program choices separately, because I actually heard back from choice #2 (music) before I heard back from choice #1 (science).

dang I feel sorry for you guys...march seems like a long way away!!

thanx for the info T990...but i don't think i'm gonna call or email them anymore. i've done that so many times and really don't wanna push my luck. which programs did u apply to?

o yes the waiting game...52 days till march 18.

ive applied to management as well.. and no decision release date yet, it just says ready for review.. :S
i applied in nov, documentes were all sent by jan beginning..
long wait now

ahhh please someone....post as soon as u get a decision release date too...this is waaaaaaaay to nervewrecking. can't be good for me. lol anyhoo buggzz don't u live in pakistan? i think ur date's different from the ppl living in the US

as the decision date approaches, not just for mcgill, but for all schools, is anybody else getting more nervous and cranky and paranoid? i'm so afraid that i'm not gonna get into any school that i want. does anybody know any school that has a deadline after mid-april?

crazychai, dear, relax. You're almost for sure in at McGill. I know it's stressful, but your stats are excellent. The limbo of waiting does really for sure suck, though. haha. Not that much longer...

Well, this is the reason to have some safety schools on your list. Hopefully you have some.

Also, I now know it's a good idea to apply to at least 1 school with rolling admissions (I would not say McGill is such). Having an admit letter by now makes all that feeling go away.

crazychai - have you visited the campus and the area? If not, you should take a trip and be sure everything is a "good fit for you" in comparison to your other possibilities. The place is quite different in winter than in summer.

no i haven't visited the school yet in the winter time. i used to live in toronto where it was pretty cold too, but i don't think it's as bad as it is in montreal. the weather is actually not one of my concerns about mcgill. i know it'll be a great fit if i get in. my only concern is my chances of getting into a great medical school back in the US. one of the reasons that my parents really want me to pick an ivy or whatever over mcgill is that they think i have a better shot at top medical schools. if i go to mcgill, i'll have a tougher time competing for a spot in mcgill's own med school and a lot of the med schools here. i don't think a lot of the US med schools take a lot of canadian students.

crazychai, I was just suggesting maybe something productive to do toward making this decision rather than worrying, since the whole acceptance thing is now out of your hands. I know its going to be hard to know whether I'm making the right choice in the next 5 weeks. I do believe there's no substitute for visiting a school, meeting teachers & students, maybe attending classes or staying in a dorm. You already know that McGill will not be "holding your hand" like a typical US LAC. Therefore, it's not a great fit for everyone (I know a shy girl from my HS who did not make friends and is transferring after 1st year).

aw....thanks for trying to get my mind off of worrying :) haha ya i'm not productive at all right now. i think maybe after april, when i've heard from all my schools, i'll visit all the ones i've been accepted and make a final decision. on one hand i like the holding ur hand environment but on the other, i know that it's time to be more independent. anyway, good luck to you too!
