Decision Thread

Why don't we just have a thread where people can post their decisions? If they want stats, great, but I know that if I get rejected I will not be motivated to post my stats. The format is not very practical, although it is easy to read.

We are making this all to complicated and no one (except those who clicked the link) knows their decisions yet! Let's just calm down, get a thread started with people who found out through the link, and wait until 5 o'clock tomorrow.

stats are very useful for RD applicants, and for helping ED applicants who were rejected or deferred get some insight into why. It's true that it doesn't matter once you're in, but for those who aren't in seeing the others' stats is helpful.

I don't think rejected applicats should be embarrassed of their stats. There isn't anything necessarily wrong with an application that doesn't result in acceptance...rejection just means you weren't what Cornell was looking for. Besides, if you have a chance at cornell based on your own merit, your stats are nothing to scoff at, period. It's easy to be discouraged here between the numerous 1450/2200+ scores, near perfect GPAs, and rediculous accomplishments often seen in the Cornell applicants' profiles here.

Some people who are discussing this "dramatic planning process," like myself and gomestar, are discussing based on things we have seen in previous year(s), and are offering our input on what seems to be the best balance of helpfulness and efficiency for all parties interested in the stats.

When you say the suggested format is "not practical but easy to read," are you talking about the formatting with like [ b] [color=red ] blah blah blah, or are you talking about the actual content of what we are discussing should be posted, i.e. GPA, SAT, along with your college and decision?

What information would you like to see in the decision related threads, and how would you like it broken down? (i.e. now we plan to have the decision/abbreviated stat. thread and the discussion/vent thread)

we just dont want it getting out of hand with 13 'rejection threads' 4 'i got in!' threads, plus six 'the official ED decision thread'

It gets annoying having to read 18 different threads to see everybody that got in.

One thread will be short, sweet, and simple. It'll say if you got in, and what some of your stats were.

Another thread will be left for discussion of the decicions. This is where everybody can congratuate each other, console each other - the works.

yeah, and your input is honestly and seriously desired. These threads are for you all more than for us, obviously. It's just that someone needed to take the initiative to orgainze it/take charge.

I understand that it would be helpful to have all of the stats...but does it have to be in a formatt? It just seems too complicated. I'm just saying that if I get rejected, I will not be motivated to post my stats because I will be so depressed!
I know that you guys are trying to make it easy to read, but it seems to be a lot more complicated than it has to be. Sorry, I wasn't trying to be rude or anything!
and I do think that there should be only one thread...so we should get it started now so that it will save time when the other applicants find their decisions.

no i'm not calling you rude!

with all due respect, no time is lost by starting the thread tomorrow. First off, everyone posts on his or her own time and it's not like two people can't type and submit posts at the same time and have to wait in line and stuff, second off, it's one day...27ish hours, third off, you'll have actual semi-official decisions (even though the ones you saw illigitimately are almost certainly correct).

Obviously nobody is forced to add his or her stats, but I think a general format for those who choose to do so will make the information easier to understand, and that many applicants, rejected accepted and deferred, will want to post their stats, or at least choose to do so to help others.

Last year, during the hour or so before decisions, I had my stats typed up and waiting, so all I needed to do was type "accepted" or "deferred" or "rejected." If you want to help future CCers in this regard, perhaps this is something you could do...you'll use up some of that anxious waiting time as well as not have to motivate yourself to doa nything other than type one word if you're rejected, right?

haha I've already done that... except I typed rejected. Not that I necessarily think I'm going to be rejected, but I couldn't leave it blank. I'm expecting the worst, but hoping for the best. I wish I had a more optimistic attitude though I think other than GPA I did everything I could in the last couple of months to better my chances.
