Hey y’all! I’m having an extremely hard time deciding between AU and UF for college starting the fall of 2011. I’m leaning towards Auburn but I am a resident of Florida so the scholarship from UF is a bit larger than what I have received from Auburn which is the heritage 2/3 tuition scholarship. I was hoping maybe someone had some tips or could just completely talk me into going to AU over UF. haha also I would be majoring in pre pharmacy and at Auburn I would plan on rushing and being a part of the honors college as well. Thank you SO much and God bless! :)

I actually did some research a while ago and found that Auburn’s pharmacy program is top 25 in the nation. But you probabaly know that already. I’ll be attending Auburn next year. Both AU and UF are great schools. Just apply yourself at either one and you’ll be golden.

But come to Auburn.

Haha totally agree! War Eagle!

UF pharmacy school is ranked #11. Just so’s you know!

If you want a smaller university (UF as I’m sure you know, is a huge Univ.) with a more personal, family atmosphere, then I would recommend AU. UF is ranked higher, and obviously has a big collegiate footprint, but you will ultimately be the determining factor in terms of what you make of your college experience.

Weigh your financial situation as well. If you can handle the tuition difference, then AU is a more realistic option.

Good luck – I’m sure Auburn would love to have you!

Thank y’all SOO much! You’ve helped a ton!

S is choosing Auburn over Florida… Chem Eng. UF too big for his taste.

My D will be going to Auburn in August; we’re from FL and she didn’t even consider UF even with Bright Futures. Why? Too big. Not enough freshman dorm housing. Way too cut-throat among students within a college. Little counseling support in course selection, switching majors, career counseling, internship opportunities and job opportunities after graduation. Auburn is big enough with a friendly, family feel, very supportive staff and lots of opportunities. Plus, Auburn’s alumni network covers more geographic territory than UF which is a plus in a job search.

Congratulations! You D came to the same conclusions that my S.

S is very excited to go to CWE this June. Certainly feels very comfortable with his decision.

I am a UF grad and my daughter just finished her freshman year at Auburn. I am also a high school teacher who has a lot of students attend UF. Honestly, I prefer Auburn. Why? I always feel very welcomed there, it just seems to me to be a friendlier school and community.

Class size. Former students tell me that some of the general class sizes are upwards to 1200+ students and many have to take online classes even when they would rather have a traditional class setting. My daughter’s 1st semester Principals of Biology class had about 200 students in it, while those at UF had 1200 for the same class.

Even with the large class sizes, my former students at UF love it there and my daughter wouldn’t want to be anywhere else but Auburn. I think you need to think about the class sizes and decide what you would prefer, the costs (you never want to have too much debt from an UG program) and the distance from home. Both schools will give the SEC football experience and the tradition of being part of a family.

I chose auburn!! I’m so excited!

War Eagle!!

Congratulations! War Eagle!!!
