I was accepted at Groton, Middlesex, and St. Mark's. Can anyone give some information on these schools? I am most interested about the social atmosphere. For example, I have heard that Groton is a pressure cooker for the students. Is that true? Any comments about SMS and MDX?

Please do a search on the schools on this forum. You will find many threads about them that might be of some help.

Congratulations on your acceptances! How can we say if the three schools are pressure cookers or not? You know what kind of a student you are, how you best learn. Certainly MDX is very challenging academically, for most kids. One of my kids graduated from MDX a couple of years ago. When we looked at St. Mark's last year for kid 2, we were given a grading distribution sheet, the results of which were pretty daunting. I know very little directly about Groton, except that the Head of School at MDX previously was a top administrator (college advising, I think) at Groton, leading to the "Groton-ization" of MDX. Hopefully, you have visited each school by now. Re-visit days are fast approaching. You have three terrific choices.

Imnop, what grade and would you be a boarder at all schools?

thanks jg0339 i will be going to the revisit days and hopefully ill make my decision then

Hey, you're going to MX revisit days? Me too! I'm going on the 5th. I don't want to influence your decision, but I know one girl well at MX. She (and all of her friends that shes introduced me to) is an absolute sweetheart. It's known, like most small schools, for its rumor mill though. I also know a girl at t Mark's and I love her to death. I was supposed to see her Saturday but my teacher wouldn't let me =/ I know less about the actual environment of SMS because she's never online/on Facebook though. However, when I do talk to her she seems to love it. Groton is definitely the most competitive of those schools, but I cant say much about the people there.
