anyone? its urgent im down to three choices and the mAy 1st deadline is approaching fast… stony brook rutgers or umd college park for mathematics/premed track!!!

For myself I would probably vote Pitt with MD-CP close second.

UPitts im payin 15k a year
rutgers 20k a year
umd-cp 29k a year
stony brook full ride

is it worth it for any schools to pay that much^

Stony, no doubt. Esp if you’re even considering med school.

would stony give me the opportunities to make me a competitive med school applicant for schools like uchicago and upenn?

Stony’s premed/ sciences are highly regarded just so you know!

Changed vote to UM-CP (unless you really need full ride)

Absolutely. In the past 10+ years, the profiles of the more competitive SUNYs (Stony at the top of the list) have risen tremendously.

what if money is not an issue?

Then Pitt or UM-CP…but money is always an issue, as in whatever you save now can be used later for grad house, a first home, starting your own savings, etc, etc. We’re talking about pretty large sums of money which is why even many who can “afford” the price tag in some sense choose options that cost less.

Full ride including room and board? They told me they don’t give those out anymore! I’m going to SB with the Engineering Scholars for Medicine program, so you know what has my vote…

How much debt would you rack up for each school?

All are excellent for math. In terms of campus life offerings, UMD and UPitt probably offer more than Stony Brook since it’s still somewhat of a commuter school. UPitt is renown for its premed program but all are probably fine.

Not necessarily. Many parents have no issues with spending quite a bit of money on college, but do object to giving their children money for post college expenses. Happened with my uncle. Incredibly wealthy man, who had no issues with paying full freight to private universities, but refused to monetarily support his son after he graduated. In this instance, his children knew that even by saving money on college, it wouldn’t matter since the uncle was willing to pay full fare and wouldn’t later reimburse his kids for whatever money they saved. The same thing could be happening to the OP. Also IMHO, UPitt and UMD offer a better overall experience than Stony Brook.

Medical School doesn’t look at the ranking of your undergrad school, but rather your GPA. You’d be crazy to pass up Stony’s full ride. Congratulations!
