I haven't got any acceptance from any UC's and only Cal State Long Beach accept me. I'm in a tough situation I had to decide should I go to community college for four years or go to Cal State Long Beach. I really want to go to a UC's but if i couldn't get any right now what make me think I could make it in the future when the admission are so much tougher. I already complete all the IGETC and the prerequiste for my major and attending at a ccc will feel like a waste of a another year. I'm sure Long Beach is a great school, but just wondering in your opinion, should I move on to CSULB or have another shot in the Fall?

What are your stats?

I’m in the same situation as you, I’ve been doing community college for 3 years and I have the choice of either going back to my former 4-year university that I left, or waiting another year full of uncertainty and try again at other schools.

Someone pointed out to me that I’m just going to be constantly stressed and anxious the whole year while I wait to find out where I’m going, or I could just make the decision to go back this fall and make the best of it that I possibly can.

We both have to look at our chances realistically and decide if just taking classes for the sake of having something to do for the next year, and dealing with the uncertainty for another year, is worth the benefits. Is there something you can get at (school x) that you can’t get at (school y)? It’s a tough decision. It depends entirely on you.

I’d wait another year and do TAGs next year. Seriously, with TAG some campus will conditionally accept you BEFORE the UC application is even due. I got into UCR, UCSC, and UCD before November 30 thanks to the TAG program.

Bump… I already did my igetc and pre requisite but I have a 2.8 gpa. It hurt that I couldn’t get to go to a dream college.

any option before I made my fateful choice? What’s stand out between a cal state school like long beach and a uc’s like uci?

Well… I don’t know anything about the CSU system… UCI might be a stretch if you have a 2.8 though, I’m sorry to say, but it depends on your major. UC Riverside is within reach, possibly UCSC, but they’re becoming more selective. You have more opportunities if you can manage a 3.0. I guess just tour the places. My mom went to CSULB and, in her words, had absolutely no memories made.

You should go to Long Beach. Try to finish in two years and keep your GPA up. If you already have a lot of credits, it’s going to be hard to bring up your GPA more unless you take a bunch of useless classes that will waste your time.

Well its official, all UC’s broke my heart and I was counting either UCSB or UCI to accept me, but now I’m back to square one.

I heard the saying that you only get to chance to live your life once. I really want to make this a homerun. UC’s had always been my dream college and seeing all my friends getting to a college of their desire. It make me feel that I’m settling for less. i did not go to CCC to settle less and I really want to make it not a waste. I’m still going back and fourth on this. If i go back to CCC, I wouldn’t really mind because the opportunity to be a president of my club is there and some people I met last year would be still there but most of them will be already gone. Going four years in community college made me feel eh. Any people who been through this before would help a lost soul here?

going to a CC for four years isnt the issue… it’s whether it is actually still possible for you to bring up your GPA to a point where you would be a competitive applicant or to where you can TAG. Almost all of the UCs will look at your GPA first and foremost. if you can stay a whole extra year at a CC and then not be dissappointed if you still dont get in, then go for it. But I really think at this point you should just accept your LB admission and try to finish in two years. You can ALWAYS try again for grad school.
