Decision to make

I am a high school junior from Ft. Laud.
I am interested in meteorology. I know that FSU is the only school in FL with that program. There are many out of state places like GA Tech, Wisconsin, OU, and KU. Is it worth it to go out of state to a better ranked school like Wisconsin according to U.S. & World Report.
I'd like to hear what all of you have to say.
Thanks

Here is the FSU Meterology web site:

I am not an expert on meterology programs, but I read that FSU has an excellent program. I can only say that you cannot get a better value for your money. FSU in-state is costing us next to nothing and my son is getting an excellent education (finance/accounting major) with all the fun & activities of a "real" big university experience.

Take a tour of each campus so that you can determine which is the right fit for you. Then, weigh the final cost and decide which program will best meet your academic and financial needs.

Simply, no.

FSU Met is one of the best in the US - bar none. It is a top program and very challenging. The last two Directors of the NOAA National Hurricane Center have both been FSU grads, for example, as are many in the NOAA. While some other schools may have a US News rating higher than FSU you should really look at the program you want. It's extremely hard to beat FSU in this area.

The combination of Florida Bright Futures, any other scholarships FSU may offer plus Florida Prepaid makes it superb cost-wise as well.

I would suggest you visit the NOAA NHC and the Miami WFO (weather forecast office) in your area. The Meteorologist-In-Charge of the Miami WFO is also an FSU grad; I'm sure they'd welcome a visit from a prospective met student.
