HELP! My parents are forcing me to make a deicison by tonight and I'd like some advice.

Tufts or WashU in St. Louis?

I want:
-to study English, foreign languages
-small or avg class size
-a fun school but not one dominated by Greeks
-a pretty campus
-friendly people
-a variety of majors among my peers
-not to be stressed out during the next 4 years
-very little cutthroat academic competition

I am:
-from the NY area
-hoping to learn a lot in college
-hoping to do well grade-wise

PS: If it weren't for an admissions officer at my Tufts open house (who somehow remembered and praised my application essay) and the fact that my WUSTL overnight was terrible, I would have already chosen WashU.

Um, while WUSTL is an amazing school, I would have to say that Tufts is horrifically underrated.
It also has a superb english and linguistics program, and foreign langs at Tufts are also superb.
There is going to be competition at both of the schools, maybe a little more at tufts, but this normally doesn't ring as true for english/FL majors as it does for science/econ majors.

"Washington University? Which one, the one in DC or the one in Seattle?" Better get used to answering this question the rest of your life if you choose the one in St. Louis. Not everybody who is smart, rich, and/or powerful is a college junkie like the people on this site. I recently told a prominent cardiologist that an employee of mine had gone to Carnegie Mellon. He said, "What's that, a trade school?"

Tufts seems like it woud be stronger in the liberal arts than WUSTL (don't take my word for it though), and I've heard WUSTL has an increasingly popular Greek scene.

One of the people living on my hall was deciding between WUSTL, but pretty much turned it down because of its location. I think she realized what st louis would be like and didn't want to be there for 4 years. She seems to like what she's doing now (engineering) but both schools are very strong as you can't go wrong with either choice.
