Decision: UCLA or BC

Narrowed it down to two colleges: BC and UCLA
-Looking to go into international business
-UCLA has no business school but the Econ/Int’l studies major, while BC has a business school but no international business major
-Visited both schools
-Liked BC’s campus over UCLA’s
-UCLA is more diverse than BC and has a larger student body

HELP!

Well, I think u just answered ur own question. U said UCLA has Int. business school but BC doesn’t have any Int.business school and u wanna go to Int.business. That tells u where u should go.

there really isn’t a place you should go. its where you want to go. its 4-year undergrad. as long as you have the grades and enjoy where you’re at, you’ll do fine. can’t really do too much without going to grad school anyways. might as well take it one step at a time.

SRB2006, you misread the post. The OP said that UCLA does NOT have a business school (and therefore, no International Business major) so the decision is not so simple.

Although BC does not have an International Business major, you could combine an International Studies minor with your business degree.

[International Studies Minor - Boston College](Morrissey College of Arts & Sciences | Boston College)

That combination might get the OP what he’s looking for.

These two schools are so different, even if you can’t decide based on major, the actual life style of the two schools should be a deciding factor. While Westwood is really a pretty area, the school is bigger than BC and has a much more diverse population. Going to a UC campus if “in state” is much cheaper than BC, but you get what you pay for. Little advisor help, and not much hands on from the administration. I don’t have personal knowledge (yet) but our visit to BC versus the UC’s certainly left you with the feeling that BC is a bit more hands on with advising and keeping the students on track (if they want). I would think classes are easier to get thru (in terms of registration) at BC than UCLA. Now sports - While BC has good football, and basketball and hockey, UCLA - nuf said - great sports. Weather - Wow, you would think this would be a deciding factor. Also, housing. Good luck finding affordable housing in Westwood… I know, we arent talking about international studies, but you definitely are going to go to grad school, so I beleive that having a place that you fit in and like to be is most important when comparing these schools. My D turned down Cal Berkeley for BC purely on those factors and she is premed, and a cali resident.
