has anyone heard yet? my daughter applied end of october, with a free and "quick"application that promised a decision in 2-3 weeks, but still no word......

I would imagine the 3 week promise starts when they have received the SAT scores, the high school transcripts, letters of recommendation, etc. Do you know if all of that was sent in? I believe you can email the admissions counselor for your area to check the status of the documentation they have.

no,they had all required materials. they did not return emails, and when we spoke to the admission counselor on the phone, she had no explanation for me, of why so long to make a decision
so I am thinking the 2-3 weeks is a false promise…

i got my acceptance letter last week :)

Congratulations!!!

thebabe, any word yet?

My D applied in late November with the Premier app with the 3 week promise. She received an acceptance letter yesterday - via a large but not thick, white envelope. We were thrilled and surprised to see she was offered an [url=http://www.simmons.edu/financialaid/returning/undergraduate/scholarships.php]Achievement Scholarship/url.

The College Board site said Simmons was to announce Early Action decisions on January 20, so that appears to be accurate. It would eliminate a lot of anxious weeks for these students if they would not offer up the 3 week promise. But as they say Simmons is personal; D received a hand written card from her Admissions Counselor and also a holiday card from a Simmons grad during this period. At many schools you never know what the name of your Admission counselor is and the whole process is opaque.

D also applied to Wentworth with a similar application and had an acceptance folder in 2 1/2 weeks.

Actually she did receive her acceptance the end of December , also received a scholarship and invitation to apply to the Honors Program- but no handwritten card from admissions counselor or from Simmons alum- perhaps because they knew we were upset they did not honor their “3 week Promise”- they had told us the 3 weeks began after they received her Senior grades ( which were not available until late November) the problem was the application did not mention senior grades at all, just transcript- to be honest I only encouraged my d to apply because it was free and I had figured she would get an early acceptance and boost her confidence
we have not even visited the school yet- but she has recently begun to think seriously about Simmons as a solid option, and we hope to visit the school soon- though I would like to see it without piles of snow all around- we will def attend the accepted student open house to learn more about the school.

Ok, so this makes sense.

D emailed them about status a couple weeks ago, and they said they did not have first quarter grades. HS re-sent them, and voila, acceptance letter.

Many schools allow a student to see status of credentials on line. That would help here.

Yes, you are dealing from a standpoint of lack of information. Simmons is somewhat unique and some people love it and and for others it’s not what they want. My D visited campus, attended their events, interviewed, and also knows current students there.

As far as mounds of snow - well, why not see it the way it’s going to realistically be IMO.
