decision?

With about two weeks before we know the priority decision, I have been wondering about my chances of getting in. Here's my information:
-ACT: comp-25, eng-31, math-24
-GPA: unwieghted-3.8
-in school activities: president of political club for two years, NHS, swimming for two years, book club
-out of school activities: tutoring children for two years, captian of an American Cancer Society Relay for Life team for two years, about half of a year of employment

Other than all of this, I'm the daughter of alumni, but I know that won't really make a huge impact on the decision. I'm applying to elementary education. I know their average ACT score range,25-27, is much lower than business or emgineering, but I'm concerned that admissions may overlook my intended major and deny my acceptance. I know my ACT is low for UIUC, but does anyone know how much influence my intended major will have on their decision? Do you think I will be accepted into UIUC education?

also, my classes are somewhat difficult
i am in 5 AP classes this year and have taken 2 others in the past, so my course load is pretty rigorous. I dont know if that helps my situation.

You seem borderline. If your ACT was higher, you'd definitely be a match.

I'm also borderline, so we'll get through this together!

Yes, the college you're applying to does make a difference to admissions. But you have to demonstrate (either through EC or types of classes) that you are truly interested in your indicated choice of major... because a lot of people use majors like dietetics just so they can get IN to UIUC then they transfer to the Engineering college once they get in.

Your ACT score is a bit low for UIUC, but I think you have a chance at getting in! I think they will really be looking at your classes and most importantly, your essays, in this situation. I mean it's not a guarantee that you'll get in, but I think you do have a chance! Good luck! :D

thanks for the replies!
ive been interested in elementary education for a long time so ive done ec's that involve helping children, like tutoring, and i really hope that makes a difference
i know uiuc is a reach for me, but its definately my first choice and ive been doing everything i can the past four years to get in.
everyone out there applying good luck!!!...only one more week! :)

I'm sure you'll get in , especially because the median ACT score range is lower for education than the others. When you apply to UIUC, you aren't applying to the university as a whole, so the acceptance rate and standards vary among the colleges and departments.
I had a friend last year that got into UIUC education Regular Action admission with a 23 ACT and fewer EC's than you, so I wouldn't worry about it. The only good thing about her was that she was number 3 in the class I think.
