Actsandsings, first of all, congrats to your son! And, as a word of encouragement, I know that every BFA acting class usually has a few students who are asked (as early as first semester break of freshman year), if they would like to be BFA MT…if your son ends up going to IC, he will be taking such a similar curriculum as the MTers that it is certainly doable, especially if he lets it be known he wants that consideration. Also, as several others have posted before, Ithaca does cast BFA actors in musicals, and MTers in straight shows. They really are one big happy family as my junior daughter can attest. Outstanding program. Totally encourage your son to do the “visitor’s day” if at all possible as that would allow him to sit in on classes, visit with the students, ask questions, etc. Was the difference maker for my daughter. And well, the merit money doesn’t hurt either! Good luck!

For the past few days I haven’t been able to access myIthaca account and am instead met with the message: Your myIthaca account is unavailable at this time. If you have questions, please contact the Office of Admission at 800-429-4274 or 607-274-3124. I have of course called Ithaca but wasn’t able to get much explanation. Is anyone else having this issue? Does anyone know if this is a sign of being rejected? I don’t mind to find out because I wasn’t happy with how my audition went that day anyway.

I don’t wanna discourage you but i’m pretty sure it means you’ve been rejected :(

I haven’t heard anyone new chiming in for a day or so about acceptances. We have not heard one way or the other. Does anyone think they are still sorting it through or do you think they are done? My D’s application list says that she has everything “done” but we haven’t heard any outcome. Last year I saw that some notifications came in mid-March, so I’m wondering if that is still something to hold out hope for. Anyone know more? Thanks.

I got accepted today!! Auditioned for MT but got in for Acting…but I’m still super psyched!!!

It seems like they are going through the acting a little quicker than MT. When I called admissions they said they get decisions from the theatre department all he time.

^^Many of the recent acceptances seem to have been kids who applied for MT but were accepted for acting. My son seems to have been in the minority, as he applied for straight acting–auditioned December 1st and just heard this week!

My D was accepted to Ithaca tonight! Just happened to log into the MyIthaca to check the status: her “audition” had moved columns about a week and a half ago, and then today at some point it switched to saying “congratulations you have been accepted!” We haven’t received anything in the mail yet but since we’re on the west coast it’s probably a little slower getting here…

My D auditioned in LA about a month ago and her “audition” is still in the “things we need” section and hasn’t moved over yet. Is this the case for anyone else? Poor thing can’t focus on anything right now other than college decisions!

Congratulations to all those accepted! We loved the program!

Oooops…forgot to say that she auditioned at Chicago Unifieds and is accepted into the BFA Musical Theatre program.

Hellmano- that’s the case for m D too, except we were at Chicago.

Congrats momarmarino and dreambelle13!

My D got accepted to Ithaca’s MT program!!! She is over the moon. She auditioned in NY on Jan. 31. I logged int this morning (as I’ve been doing for weeks) to see if anything has changed. Today it says “congratulations you were accepted into MT on Monday, March 4”. It was only posted today! We are like the post above in that we have not received anything in the mail as yet, and we are also on the west coast. We are just dancing here!!!

Congratulations to Prntosome’s D! How odd you had to wait so long for the good news.

Congats! It’s still early for Ithaca. They have a long ways to go before all are notified. Lots of very talented people are still waiting and haven’t even moved to audition complete yet on My Ithaca.

Congratulations prntosome! So exciting.
So far 28 have been chosen for MT. We were told by Gary Bostwick that they will choose 32 total for MT to yield 16 so there are a few spots left if this information was correct.
For straight theatre they have accepted about 75 so far. I have no idea how many they pick but it looks like quite a few. Hopefully there a lot of spots left for those who are interested in that direction.

Congrats to prntosome, momamarino, and dreambelle13 (and anyone I may have missed)! Make sure you/your kids join the theater group on myIthaca…the kids are all talking amongst themselves, and I know the Boston area accepted kids are talking about meeting in Boston for lunch. Good luck to those still waiting!

^^md311mt, when you say they’ve accepted 75 for “straight theater,” does that mean JUST acting, or also theater studies…? Do you know? (Am assuming you heard the numbers from somebody in the program?). Thanks for any clarification you can offer! :)

75 for BFA Acting seems like quite a lot…

Times3. I really don’t know. Sorry if I confused everyone. The 75 are just listed as "Theatre Arts"only. No music. This could be the BA’s and the BFA’s combined. I didn’t even realize they had both options as my son is only interested in MT.

Thanks to all of you amazingly gracious folks for good wishes. I want to say that I read the posts from last year’s Ithaca decision threads and can vouch for the fact that they can go quite late in letting acceptances know. Last year, there were many who did not know even by mid to late March. Don’t lose hope if you are still waiting. Good luck to all!
