Decisions 2009-2010

Sweet. What does you grades have to look like to get into CCM drama and Roosevelt?

Hi all… My D made her choice.

She had Cal Arts, UCLA, Emerson, CCM, UC Irvine and UC Santa Barbara, all for acting.

She decided on UCLA BA Theatre/Acting. She is very excited. Its the perfect school for her. She did her statement of intent last night.

re CCM drama: My daughter had over a 4.00 GPA and was an AP Scholar with honors. I don’t know if that mattered. It got her a scholarship at CCM, though.

I don’t think grades are a very big factor at all in being admitted to CCM drama: it’s mostly the audition.

However, the grades DO matter for scholarships such as the Cincinnatus, mentioned by chrissyblu. So having good grades and test scores can definitely pay off, even if they don’t help you get into a good actor training program.

I’m headed to NCSA

and I’m really excited

Great news, Nick…it’s gonna be a wonderful experience for you. Good luck!

Decision made. Son will be attending CMU in Production.

thanks so much soozviet

and congratulations to your son MHETTmom

OPTIONS:
University of Michigan
Wayne State University
Marymount Manhattan
SUNY Purchase
California Institute of The Arts
University of North Carolina School of the Arts

After weighing all of the options, pros and cons…

FINAL DECISION:
University of North Carolina School of the Arts

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!!

MHETTmom… YEA! The decision is made, and it’s an excellent choice. Now enjoy the new journey. Congratulations.

Yay for everyone!!! Isn’t it a relief?

Wow congrats Chrissyblu, MHETT, Nick, and Tim!!! You guys are amazing! Those are awesome schools!

My son has decided to attend NCSA for the BFA Acting Program! When we visited in March, it was very clear to him that NCSA was the perfect match for him. It takes a lot of energy and focus and guts to go through two rounds of the audition process and I am happy that my son decided to take on that challenge. And I am relieved that we will not be going through this again next year!

My son plans to write a message about the experience of applying as a transfer student. My message, to those who did not receive the results that you wanted, is to never give up. If you know you have talent, if this your dream and your passion, don’t let anyone else tell you differently. Find a way to make it work.

Congratulations to all the students who will be going to their favorite schools next year. And many thanks to all the students and parents and teachers who share their wisdom and experience on CC. This has been an invaluable resource for us.

nickeatworld and TimThom- what are you going to UNCSA for?

i’m 99% sure that i’m going to UNCSA for sound design in D&P, and i’m curious to know what everyone else is going for.

does anyone know anyone going to UNCSA for sound design?

Thelilodance i pmed you

SMU 2013 BFA Acting. It was the only place that worked out financially, and I had UArts, CalArts, and BU to choose from. But on the bright side, I won’t graduate with more than 15k in debt at the very most because of a very generous scholarship. If you have great test scores and a great GPA don’t overlook SMU next year! I’m just really glad it’s done. I am a little worried about the quality of training I’ll be getting, because I was really looking for an intense, conservatory experience and SMU integrates more liberal arts, but I think (or hope rather) that all will be a-ok, and that I’ll make the best of it. I’ll keep everyone updated on how it goes throughout the next year  Congrats to all on decisions, best of luck to everyone!

after a long, drawn out, back and forth between NYU and BU, I’ve picked BU!

so excited!

I will be attending BU in the fall enrolled in the College of Fine Arts’ School of Theatre!

Yay, Preppy09! So far there’s you, Becca, and my son (who posts here as YoungThespian) who have publicly announced on CC that they have chosen BU School of Theatre for next fall.

Hope you will join the “BU College of Fine Arts Class of 2013” School of Theatre Discussion Board on Facebook, if you haven’t already.

It was among University of Evansville, North Carolina School of the Arts, and SUNY Purchase…aaaand in the end, I decided on:
North Carolina School of the Arts! BFA Acting '13

Allan I think we are friends on facebook
