[ /list][ b]General Comments:[ /b]

…okay, I’m too lazy to fill in the whole thing. I’m not incredibly shocked I got in (even with my scores) because my mom, dad, and sister all went to F&M. Unfair advantage, I know. I really love the school, but I don’t think I’m going to end up going there. Congrats to everyone else!

I got waitlisted and I’m desperate to get in.%>_<%

Decision: Accepted

Objective:[ul]
[] SAT I (breakdown): 1980 (700 CR, 580 M, 700 W)
[] ACT: 29
[] SAT II: 730 Lit
[] Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 3.64
[] Rank: 80/542 (top 14%)
[] AP: Literature and Psych (no scores, didn’t take any AP’s until my senior year- eek!)
[] Senior Year Course Load: Creative Writing, Filmmaking, Broadcast Communications, AP Lit, AP Psych, Accelerated Physics and Accelerated Analysis
[] Major Awards: None
[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Member of NHS and FHS, tons of tutoring hours, assisted my old first-grade teacher with her class last year, student mentor to freshmen, Hebrew High School
[] Job/Work Experience: Camp counselor at a Jewish day camp last summer
[] Volunteer/Community service: Lots of tutoring, Homework Club, Volunteer at Devereux Center for Children with Special Needs- my brother lives there.
[] Summer Activities: Camp counselor last summer, the summer before that I spent three weeks at Yale doing an Exploration Program- basically just took a few classes on film and writing.
[] Essays: My essay on either dining with Ben Franklin or John Marshall was actually pretty good, in my opinion. I had no idea who John Marshall was, so I decided to write about Franklin. I wrote about how interesting our dinner conversation would be if I got to ask him what life was like having multiple affairs with European prostitutes and being the father of an illegitimate child.
[] Teacher Recommendation: Excellent.
[] Counselor Rec: Meh. The counselors at our school know nothing about the students they represent, so it probably wasn’t anything too great.
[] Additional Rec?: Nope.
[] Interview?: I think it went well. My interviewer was a tad intimidating, and I kind of freaked out a bit when she asked my why my class rank (14%) was so low when my grades were so good. I was kind of taken aback, to say the least. But I think I won her over when I told her about how being Jewish is such an important part of my life, and how interested I would be in joining F&M’s Hillel, blah blah blah.
[/ul]Other[ul]
[] State (if domestic): PA
[] School Type: Public
[] Ethnicity: White
[] Gender: Female
[] Income Bracket: Good enough to not apply for FA.
[] Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): Not exactly a hook, but I think that the fact that I want to be a film major stood out to the admissions committee.
[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: My interview and my essay.
[] Weaknesses: lack of both EC’s and AP’s.
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Not really sure! F&M was a fairly parallel school for me, so I’m kind of surprised I got in, but I’m not exactly dumbfounded by it.
[/ul]General Comments: If I don’t get into my first-choice school, choosing between F&M and Muhlenberg is going to be tough. See you all at Accepted Student’s Day!
