Don’t forget that if you are a NMF SMU will give you an additional 20,000 scholarship
(5,000/year)…every little bit helps!

Ramanayaran, I totally agree with kjb, it might be an oversight. I would call right away. Having said that, your daughter was accepted to other really fabulous schools, Congratulations!! If you are really interested in SMU I would call the school and give them all of the information about other merit scholarships received. If not, she is obviously going to end up at a great university so it’s all good!

A wave of accepts/defers/denies went out Friday and the last batch of accepts/defers/denies will go out on March 7th. Unlike how EA ended up going, these two waves will truly be a mix of all three. So if you see people posting accepts and you haven’t received a letter - DON’T FREAK - you are NOT necessarily denied. Wishing the best to all!

My son just received his acceptance letter with Provost scholarship. Plans on majoring in Computer Science. 1450 SAT / 10 AP classes / top 20% of good public high school. 2 years of Computer Science / going to state tournament in Computer Science / essay about computer security. Attended Mustang Monday last week and was very impressed - beautiful campus, great engineering facilities and friendly impressive faculty.

@CanuckHorn Congrats! Will you all be attending Destination SMU? It’s geared towards accepted students and would allow your son to meet more accepted/current students.

Destination SMU sounds like an awesome experience. My son is especially excited about the two day program. We will have to see if he can fit it into his schedule.

@ John: My D and I will be on the Hilltop Thursday and Friday for Destination SMU; this is our third visit and she has already committed and made her dorm choices. She is excited to meet fellow class of 2016 students on this trip as well as meeting some future professors.

I will give a report of our visit if it will help those who are contemplating but haven’t decided to make the trip. We have already checked the weather forecast and we are going to enjoy some sunshine and spring-like temperatures; can’t wait!

Pony up!

My D just received her acceptance letter. (Tuesday 2/28/12) We live in Portland. Was wondering if or when any scholorship money will or will not be offered.

Merit scholarships from the university as a whole went out with acceptances, however departmental scholarships may still be awarded.

VERY disappointed to be wait listed today. 3.7 GPA, 30 ACT, 6 AP’s (4’s and 5’s last year), Natl Merit Commended Scholar, 3 years Varsity wrestling, 3 years Varsity Lacrosse, part time job for 18 months, community service, Natl. Latin Exam Cum Laude, great teacher recs. Thought I was in the profile. Congrats to all who got in. It’s a great school.

Thank you Mr. Angle, I am excited about the opportunity to attend SMU. Can you offer any advise on how to approach admissions to ask for some “token” merit scholarship money. Anything will help to solidify SMU as the top choice. Thank you again.

Looking forward to Destination SMU Mar 29-30! Anyone else attending on those dates? S is still waiting for news on Pre-Law Scholars program…hopefully we’ll hear before then. He has his heart set on it!

my D has still not received a decision. Based on Mr. John Anggle’s comments that the final wave of decisions were being sent out on March 7th was hoping the wait would be over.
Does this mean it is OVER!!!
Can anyone let me know if they have heard or had their decisions come in yesterday?
Thx

My S accepted on 3/7. Email was sent stating he was accepted and that there would be a local event (Los Angeles) in a few weeks that he could attend for newly accepted students.
I was accepted (4.0 UW GPA; 2290 SAT; 8 APs, 3 college classes) with a Founders Scholarship.

Does anyone know how they determine a Founders from a Provost Scholar? I was just wondering because my sister received the Provost scholarship, but we had been hoping she’d get the Founders.

Big red envelope came today!
3.9 gpa, 1790 SAT, 27 ACT extensive competitive piano and national/international Model United Nations experience.
California private prep school

I was wait listed.
28 ACT, 1790 SAT
several clubs and many hours of volunteer work.
good essay
I am somewhat surprised.

forgot to mention I’m in top 17% of my class

I was accepted way back in December 2011. My main concern was the scholarships. I was told by my financial counselor that packages should be coming in this week. As I have now read that these merit scholarships were given in the admission package, I am now curious if I didn’t receive any or will it show up in the upcoming package.

What do you think I should do? call and ask?

fruitloops22, do you mind posting your gpa? I have a friend with similar scores and I am wondering about her chances.
