the admission office told me so today when i called at noon. so this means...OMG

hm....that means I can expect my deferral email to get to me today (might!)

ok....so they mailed today? SO i should get it tomorrow?

so what areas will get it tommorrow if they were mailed early today?

What is the day of "today"? Tuesday? Wednesday?

I'm assuming "today" is Tuesday since tomorrow would be Wednesday. I don't mean to sound sarcastic.

Just talked to the admissions office. The letters are all going out at 5 pm today, Tues, Dec 13.They are carrying them to the mail truck to make the 5 pm delivery (so that they will actually be on their way tonight). For those on the West Coast, Hawaii, etc., you may call in on Friday if you haven't received your letter. Also, she said all the letters are simple letters and they all look alike, so don't freak out if you see a thin envelope in your mailbox. She said they didn't have time to create packets for accepted students.

I like the thin letter thing. I would hate to know just by seeing the envelope. People in Jersey, you should get it tomorrow. DC/MD/noVA, maybe (just maybe tomorrow). Most people should get them by Thursday, I imagine.

surgeonmom, thank you for sharing the information. Wow, so we are not going to tell if it's acceptance or defferal by the envelope. I cant imagine myself openning a thin envelope and convincing myself at the same time that it could be an acceptance letter. This is gonna be so scary

Yeah. I agree with thin letter thing. If packets were sent, I bet there will be some students, who will be tossing around their packets to just show off they are accepted to Princeton. :p

So probably Thursday for me...
I'd still prefer a fat packet of course. A thin letter would give me another heart attack.

Yes, I'm glad I asked that since I will see the mail before my D does. She said they could not send them through the stamp machine if they were packets, and therefore wouldn't have been able to send them out as fast, so they are all simple letters in identical envelopes.

To pass the time away awaiting the mail, take a look at the link below the development group puts out: Beautiful campus, student body, school spirit, etc.

Hope you guys make it!

Are all letters sent by priority or only acceptances? Also, when would it reach Atlanta, Ga, and can we call on Fri?? I read the scariest book in my life on ivy league admissions yesterday, so I'm feeling very doubtful of acceptance!! The book was written by a dartmouth admissions officer (former) and she was talking like everyone applying has been in the olympics for a sport. How many of you have been in the Olympics?? Oh I'm spazzing!

SurgeonMom:

Is it your understanding that all letters are being sent by regular $.37 mail? No priority mail?

She said REGULAR mail. I specifically asked her that. No priority mail.

ALL the letters - regular mail.

then does it mean that we will receive the letters later than we would have if they used priority mail, even though they send the letters one day earlier than we expected?

SurgeonMom,

Thanks for clearing that up. Probably means an extra day wait for those of us
in the heartland.

so this means that if the letters are being carried to the mail truck today, the will enter the usps system tonight and be sorted............ and its possible that people in NYC will have their letters tomorow................... am I correct in my reasoning?

wow i dont think i will get any sleep until either wednesday or thursday.
