Stats:[ul]
[] SAT I (by section): 660 Maths, 800 CR, 740 Writing
[] SAT IIs: Didn't submit any.
[] ACT: Erm, I forget the breakdown. Something like....31 overall? Wasn't fantastic, in any case.
[] APs: School doesn't offer APs
[] IBs: Maths, physics, and chemistry at HL and English A1, French ab initio, and History of Europe at SL. EE in physics.
[] GPA: I think it's like a 4.08 or something. Not entirely sure.
[] Rank: My school doesn't rank, but I think I'm about 4 out of 24. My freshman year screwed me over.
[] Other stats: I've had all 7s (highest grade possible for the IB) in my HL classes both years, so I think that helped me out.
[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] ECs listed on app: President of robotics club for the past three years, varsity girl's team for rowing, Venture Crew, choir, and Brain Game. Also, physics summer programme in summer after junior year.
[] Job/Work Experience: None, really.
[] Essays (subject and responses): I only had to write one for the Candidate's Choice, and I wrote about how I became interested in physics when I was 10. My English teacher really liked it, and said it really conveyed who I am. So it was good, I think.
[] Teacher Recs: I didn't read it, but it would have been good, very good. My physics teacher wrote it, and she's told me I'm the best physics students she's ever had.
[] Counselor Rec: Also probably very good, as our GC loves me, for some reason...
[] Applied on: Ages ago, in like September.
[] Hook (if any): Doubt I had one.
[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country: Indiana.
[] School Type, Average Stats of School (if available): Private International School. Don't know our stats.
[] Ethnicity: Caucasian.
[li] Gender: Female.[/li][/ul]*General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc: Honestly, I think I got in because of my strong grades in my maths and science classes, and the fact that I also did very well in my humanities classes. I also showed how much I love physics, so that was probably helpful. Just goes to show, really, that test scores aren't everything. Mine are abysmal, after all. *

Used the Priority Candidate Application
AP classes since freshman year (15 total, passed all the ones I have taken so far)
Very strong 4 year varsity sports with leadership roles
Top 10% of class at prestigious boarding school
Over 4.0 W GPA

CR: 670 M: 690 W: 620
Chem: 630 MII: 650
..however I got a 5 on the Chem AP exam..SAT is just not my thing

My SAT scores are lower than most..but I'm very well rounded and have always been in AP classes and do well on AP exams

I'm turning down my acceptance though to go to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy

it's actually three scholarships combined. One is ($5k) for Room and Board Scholarship, one just says RPI scholarship ($5K), and the other one is RPI Grant for ($8.5 K). Then I got a few other federal loans.

Does anyone know if there is a designated "Waitlist" and a seperate "Priority Waitlist" (the one I got). In other words, did anyone get just waitlisted, and not priority waitlisted.

congrats everyone! I was also accepted. I was a bit surprised though because my SATs were lower than most of yours. However I have a strong GPA and I have taken difficult courses. Best of luck to everyone wait-listed!

I applied regular, and my decision letter was posted on the website, and within the scanned mail, it had scholarship info on it for me. nothing about loans though. If I get the Rensselaer medal from school, I think I would be pretty set on RPI

**General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc: Happy - but this one is for the waitlisters...call me cocky, but this was my safety school :)

I was accepted and offered $68,000 in scholarships over the next 4 years (5 if I choose to go for my master's in computer science). For just 09-10, I've been offered $29,500 ($17,000 from scholarships, the remainder is loans).

AP classes: AP Physics B, AP Latin III, AP Latin IV, AP Calculus AB, AP Macroeconomics, AP Computer Science

Activities: Robotics

Achievements: Student of the Month awarded by the Technology Department; NCWIT Aspirations in Computing award

I don't have a ton of activities, but I wrote a very strong application essay. Trust me, they DO read the essay. I also had a ton of great recommendations from teachers. The award I received (NCWIT) is a national award given to females planning to major in the computing field who have demonstrated outstanding work in computing, leadership, and community service. I did not go for an interview because I simply did not have the time.

Looks like it's going to be a tough decision between RPI and RIT. I'm visiting both over spring break, so hopefully I'll have made a decision by the end of March...

The stats here are really suprising to me... I applied to RPI just because they sent a "candidates choice" application email about a week before their deadline. I wasn't even considering RPI but applied just to apply (I didn't even send in an application fee). Today I get an email inviting me to admitted students day, and I didn't even know I was in. I checked online and I had gotten in and offered 80,000 over 4 years. Whats weird about this is that I'm strongest in humanities- I got a 32 on the ACT but with a 27 in math, and only scored 730 in the math II Subject test, which I never even sent them. I'm a full IB Diploma candidate with a 4.1 GPA and 32, but honestly none of my extra curriculars are math related or engineering related.
