Got waitlisted, sigh. Congrats to everyone who got in!

Deferred as well. sigh. Congrats to everyone else :)

Too scared.
Too scared.
Too scared.

I think I'd rather wait for the actual mail letter. Am I alone in this?

waitlisted:( Seems to be a common theme around here so far. anyone have any opinions on why this is so? i didn't "expect to get in," but i busted my you know what for that application, and I still don't think i would've changed a thing. What are they looking for/ what did it take this year???

I don't think I've ever been this scared before in my life.

Sorry I keep whining....

Just check it. It's not going to change if you wait.

Just go for it.

Let Nike be your inspiration, waterbed:

Just do it.

I got in!!!!!

This was my biggest reach school and I had practically no hope that I would actually get in. I am so excited right now, what a great surprise.

Accepted! :) pretty happy after a Columbia ED rejection..

I'm guessing the increased waitlisting might be because of the large increase in EA applications; hopefully some of those people will end up going to other schools so that space is freed up for waitlist people. Does anybody know the percentages for admission, waitlisting, and rejection?

It said on the site that the waitlist percentage has been from 1 to 29 in the past 5 years (I'm guessing it's been decreasing since)

I have never worked harder on anything in my life than I did on my UChicago application, but sometimes the best isn't good enough.

Uh.... Busting your on ONE application doesn't mean much. Try four years of -busting, bucko.

Just open it!

Deferred to waitlisted.

The waiting just never stops, does it?

waitlisted, but better than I expected

Is there normally this many people waitlisted?

I'm sure this isn't normal. A numbers of factor contribute to why so many (especially on this insanely competitive forum) have been waitlisted/rejected.

How do we find out about merit aid? It didn't mention anything in my letter, does it mean I didn't get it?

I think maybe some of the rejected aren't so eager to post about it on CC. I wouldn't be surprised, however, if Chicago did increase the percentage of students waitlisted: with all the increases in applications everywhere and the removal of Harvard and Princeton's early admissions stuff, a lot of schools are probably unsure of what yield will be like.
