Decisions are up!

good luck!

At the moment the site says “system maintenance.” I wonder if the server crashed or the decisions are still being loaded.

Yeah I just got admitted. It appears that the system may just be overloaded.

i still can’t access the page :/

HTTP Status 401 - MyApplication is currently unavailable to allow for system maintenance. Please check back later in the day.

type Status report

message MyApplication is currently unavailable to allow for system maintenance. Please check back later in the day.

description This request requires HTTP authentication (MyApplication is currently unavailable to allow for system maintenance. Please check back later in the day.).
Apache Tomcat/6.0.26

Not really, lol. Probably soon though

Is https://act.ucsd.edu/studentApplicants/applicanttracking</a> the correct link to check? (once it starts working again…sigh)

neuro13: there is a lot of discussion about the portals and links on the Official Decisions thread. You can check the links and so forth there, too.

Cannot get access! Freak out! Good luck to everybody!

As a prospective computer science student, the fact that they can’t even put up a helpful message and instead resort to using the default apache error page is mildly distressing.

^^^Good point, Ascaris.
LOL.

i went on the site, saw my acceptance letter, got off the computer and jumped around, refreshed the page, then the site went under maintenance.

@Ascaris

I don’t think that reflects poorly on their CS department, and I’m sure that you don’t truly believe so either.

Plus - you’re a roundworm! How are you even typing!?

I’m pretty sure a few CS students or professors are involved in the maintenance of their sites. I’m making my host type for me.

^^^
Almost spit up my coffee reading these roundworm posts. LOL!!!

@Ascaris

Maybe current students, or student workers? I’d imagine that the professors have a lot on their plates with research and courses - frontend webdev is pretty tedious. Maybe they work on site optimization and stuff, but I’d be surprised if they were actually involved in the maintenance of the HTTP server.

Gosh, I suddenly have the urge to latch onto something soft and release a billion eggs.

Oh no… I knew I shouldn’t have eaten all that dirt back in Thailand.

Damn you websiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiite

I can’t access the website. :/

Did you guys get an email about decisions though? I didn’t.

If they don’t send one, they really should. Making everyone check the website is cruel because of the overload on the system. That’s why Irvine sent it in waves - to prevent stuff like this from happening.

omg when is it going to start working lol

@AceAites - I’m not sure I agree that sending it in waves would be better in that it causes more anxiety for those who are in the latter waves. The way Davis did it was good, I think. They didn’t officially announce a date so ppl were not checking constantly. So, everyone gets a decision at the same time, which is less stressful.
