Accepted! International student who lives in CT

rejected :(
well not that I was expecting a acceptance anyways being OOS.

i was accepted, and just set up my onyen and checked my financial aid... i got the "university trademark scholarship" for $10,260, and a "tuition grant" for $1100. so basically i'm paying about the same as in-state? i'm pretty psyched about this..

is getting the "university trademark scholarship" any indication of.. anything? maybe chance at honors program? or is that just the generic name for UNC's general kinda scholarship

WaitListed--OOS, how can they expect you to wait until June to make your final decision. Man now its between UGA,NYU, and Columbia.

Some of you don't seem to know how the waitlist process goes. Basically you commit to another school by their deadline (which is proably May 1), sending in the deposit and everything - working on the assumption that you will not be admited off the waitlist. Then in June you get your decision from UNC. If you want to go there bad enough, you forfeit your deposit, change plans and go to UNC.

OOS accepted.

I don't think the UNC thread is the place to post about Wash U. How about checking out the Wash U thread.

ok thank you.

What does it take to become a Carolina Scholar?
Great stats, great interview...?

hsdropout, i thought you were accepted ED1 to Vandie. How can you be on the waitlist to unc if you have to go (early decision is have to) at another school?

from what i understand, out of the early action applicants, the admissions officers cut the list down to 500 kids for the first round. after that actual faculty members cut the list down to 135 kids. these were invited to a scholarship day around late january/february (can't remember which). there wasn't an interview, it was a student panel discussion. The potentials are split up into groups of about 6 or 7 and assigned to a professor. the professor leads you to a class room where he/she introduces a current events topic to be discussed. most of them also included an article of some kind to stimulate discussion. from there they just let the potentials debate and argue, sometimes posing thoughtful questions, and assessed them based on the points they make, how well they speak, and just they're overall abilities i guess. it was a cool format and i liked it alot better than just a plain old interview.

My friend got into Vandie and she just posted using my log in name because she doesn't have an account on CC. I never applied to Vandie

^sounds kind of bogus
