glassharmonica - congrats for your D’s decision to attend Fordham. Everything I know and have heard comments indicate it is a fantastic program. I know this has been a long journey, but well done to you, and “break a leg” to your D!

Congrats everyone! So glad to have some of you join my S at Fordham! :)

D’s final decision: Northwestern (Theatre). So happy I can post a decision at last!

hoveringmom, glassharmonica, and others who were side by side with me on this journey-- congratulations on reaching such great destinations! What a year-- it looks like everyone here can look forward to a terrific theater education.

Congratulations to all those who shared their journeys here! Hope you will continue to post and let us know how your kiddos are doing.

I also hope we can keep each other posted. I feel privileged to have been a part of this process with so many supportive folks. It really helped me, as I was very anxious about my D after my oldest son’s experience–not that they’re the same at all. I can’t quite express how helpful you all were. I honestly don’t think my D would have even selected Northwestern and certainly not the wonderful Coastal Carolina BFA program (her two final choices, and a very difficult decision) without the support and guidance of CC. Thank you to all.

Congratulations and best wishes to all of the '12 Theatre kids and parents!

I want to second the thanks to the generosity of the parents and students posting here. Two years ago I knew nothing about the process of applying for a college drama program. A year ago I knew a little more, but still had a lot to learn. The information shared on this forum has been invaluable. My daughter does not attend an arts high school, so her guidance counselors have not been able to help her in this quest. She found her fantastic acting coach through a member who posts here regularly (and indeed on this very thread), whose son studied with the same coach. And she found the perfect college program for her, which she will attend in September, because a member on this forum (SandKmom) took the trouble to write detailed descriptions of that program. Thanks, all of you for your support. I hope that I am able to provide similar support to others in the future!

Just got off the phone with Fordham FA they considered our appeal and gave us $6800 of federal grant/loan and work study that we qualified for financially but I think didn’t get originally because we sent in the application after November 15 (the original deadline) the FA office didn’t include us in the money originally.

So, Connor applied: NYU, Marymount Manhattan, Pace and Fordham
Accepted: NYU, Marymount Manhattan, Pace and Fordham

ATTENDING: FORDHAM

Looks like there will be at least 3 CC kids at Fordham Theater this year.

Yay! Congratulations!

Glad to hear it! Olivia cant wait to get started at Fordham.

@hoveringmom - Congratulations on joining the Northwestern theatre family. Exciting times ahead!!

Accepted: NYU (Tisch), Emerson, Rutgers (BA), Columbia College Chicago
Final Decision: NYU (Tisch) - BFA Acting, Adler studio

Reasons: Great school, studio, and city; wants to work in New York; no cut program. D pretty much knew earlier in the month, but a last-minute visit sealed it. Naturally it was one of only two programs she applied to that she hadn’t visited!

Thanks for the shout out! I’m so glad that some of the info I provided helped. I wish you all (esp my new Fordham friends!) a wonderful college experience! :)

Congrats to all and best wishes on the next part of the adventure!

Accepted: Adelphi BFA, Emerson Acting BA, American University BA Musical Theater, Fordham (accepted to school but not into acting major), Drexel, Muhlenberg, Hofstra, Purchase BA (did not audition for BFA), Catholic BA Theater, Northeastern, U Mass Amherst
Rejected: Colgate, Northwestern

Final Decision: Emerson

Reason: My S wanted a BA program so he could study all aspects of the theater and entertainment world and has decided to major in Acting and Minor in Marketing. He also just fell in love with Emerson’s vibe and Boston.

Congrats to everyone! And good luck to your S, disneymom1. He had great choices and he will have wonderful opportunities at Emerson and in Boston. That is really terrific!
