I'm having trouble deciding between ED Cornell or NYU. Hopefully someone here can help me out. I ride horses a lot and I think Cornell might be better for that. I want to do Premed. I know both schools have good Premed programs. I think Cornell's is a bit better though. But I think it's also gonna have me stuck in my room with a textbook everyday for hours and hours until my eyes are bleeding. NYU seems to have a better social scene, with theatres and clubs and music and whatnot. Does anyone have any info to help me compare the schools further and decide?

bump ba-da-bump bump bump bump...

you said you liked horses and you want to go pre-med, so I'm assuming you're applying to CALS at cornell, which would be much less expensive than NYU, seeing as you're a resident of NY state. It really depends on what you want. NYU doesn't have much of a defined campus and unified community, while cornell is the opposite. both have obvious advantages and disadvantages. I dn't really know what you mean by info to help you compare them, but if you're really this undecided, I'd recommend not applying ED to either, to keep your options open. have you visited both of them? I'm assuming neither are very far from where you live. I suggest visiting and if one of them stands out and you don't think you could ever go anywhere else, apply ED (assuming you're will to taken on the financial burden). good luck

in your situation, i would not recommend applying ED to either..you seem torn between two, and should apply RD so that there's no binding to either school, and then make your decision in the spring based on how you feel about each school, and yes, the financial aid package each gives you if it is necessary in your situation...i've heard ED gets worse financial aid because it's binding so you can't decline due to financial reasons...

Actually you can decline b/c of financial situations. ED is given priority for merit based aid and if the aid package isn't sufficient, you can break the contract...according to NYU.

ED is binding, but if you're going to the poorhouse because they screw you on FA then you can technically decline. However, this just goes to show that you should get enough FA if you apply ED, since otherwise the colleges would be screwing themselves by screwing you.

NY has the NY nightlife, but kids have a lot of fun at Cornell, too. "Weekend" nights are Friday and Saturday, and sometimes Thursday depending on your class times on friday or if you have friday classes at all. Cornell obviously has the advantage in terms of equestrian facilities...you could probably keep a horse on campus with all the facilities for animals they have here haha (i'm only half joking, look into it if you're serious about doing that). We supposedly have a nasty ass awesome womens' polo team. I can't say much for NYU because I don't know too much about it, so this seems kind of one sided. If someone can chip in on the NYU social scene (and obviously not completely bash the cornell one since they likely know little to nothing about it) that would balance this description out.
