Decisions, Decisions

I was accepted to another college for musical theater and wait listed at Syracuse for acting. I am in love with Syracuse and would love to go there if i were to get in. Only problem is, musical theater is the path I’m looking to follow, not just acting. I am thinking about possibly going to Syracuse for acting, and trying to transfer into the MT program. What would my chances be if this is what i decided to do?

My D is waitlisted at SU for MT and has decided to attend another program for now. If she does get off the waitlist she will re-evaluate then. I’m not sure what your chances are of getting in to the MT program would be. You need to do what you love. You may end up really liking your MT option after a year.

Acting students at SU audition for all the musicals, and are frequently cast in good roles. Many acting students opt to take private voice lessons, and occasionally can be placed in dance classes if there is room. The acting and MT students are very closely allied at SU; I believe it would be easier to get into the MT program as an acting student than it would be to get in as a transfer from another school. If I were you I would contact the theater office and ask them about it.

Thanks so much! I should wait to hear before I call thought, right?

Good idea – good luck!
